fox5s miguel martinez-valle has been digging into the story of a company tasked to help struggling homeowners since the recession.. tonight .. he sat down with the new c-o-o of the company to ask what she's doing now to fix the problems found in the audit. as we first told you earlier this week .. an audit found nevada's affordable housing assistance corporation - or na-hack - was using thousands of dollars on big parties, gifts.. and many other examples of reckless spending. " we still have to fulfill our mission of helping homeowners, so we're going to earn back their

knew she had a lot of work to do when she started her job in june... but she didn't expect to deal with this... " my initial reaction was you know... wow" the federal audit on her company brought to light more than 8 million dollars in wasted tarp funds... money that was supposed to help nevadans avoid foreclosure. "me: were you shocked to find out how exactly this money was being spent?" " of course... you know i am a taxpayer as well.." i asked what happened to the people responsible for the wasteful spending. campbell told me they don't work there anymore, but that doesn't mean the company's problems are over... the audit highlighted a dramatic decrease in the number of people receiving tarp funds. " me: what is keeping these homeowners from getting into this program...? - as i said, i analyzed the numbers when i came in, and if you have 50 percent that aren't getting through

huge impediment..." soon .. nahac will be able to take calls .. and eventually be able to set up a face- to-face meeting .. instead of doing everything online... " we saw a large number of homeowners that were getting stuck in the first part of the process" bridge? :" nevada's one of 19 states that get this federal funding... so they're looking at other programs for guidance..." " california is light years ahead of where we are right now " the company plans to revisit program restrictions, and even create a program for the unemployed... campbell told me she's commited to transparency .. helping homeowners and gaining back their trust... " i have to deal with the fallout of it and the staff the fall out of it, they didnt make those decisions... those who did are gone" nahac still has a lot of money to give homeowners in need from the hardest hit fund... with the changes to the program they encourage people to look them up online to see if they qualify. a discrimiation lawsuit is being filed against the wynn. the resort is accused of discriminating against an army veteran with p-t- s-d who was working as a security guard. the federal equal

opportunity commission filed the suit today. it claims the company refued to accommodate the veteran and aggravated his condition by suspending him. the lawsuit says the guard's p-t-s-d flared up in 20- 10....shortly after the wynn started requiring guards to work mandatory overtime. it also says the employee asked for a modified schedule but was denied and suspended. wynn officials have not commented. uber is celebrating it's first birthday in nevada. the special perks being offered to drivers and riders. and what the ride sharing company has planned for the future. plus... the u-n-l-v rebels are looking for their first win on the road... fox 5's kevin bolinger brings us out to central michigan as the players prepare for tomorrow's

a year ago uber got the green light to begin offering ride sharing services here in the valley... but they didnt stop there they soon had pick up locations at all the casinos... and an area to pick passengers up from the airport... fox 5s cyndi lundeberg caught up with a brand new uber driver and checked on his first day on the job... just in case you arent familiar with uber... its a smart phone app... and with just one click... a driver will be routed right to you. before last year... if you needed a ride... you called a taxi.. got on a bus or called a friend. now we can call a driver with the push of a button

$500 thomas told me for his first shift things were going pretty well... accept for one thing... the only problem ive had today is this (referencing gps) keeps sending me on wild goose chases getting lost uber didnt want to comment on how many people took uber in their first year... thomas said in his training they didnt tell him either. i asked him how diffificult it was to drive for uber... thomas- the only requirement is you have a clean driving record insurance and a car we took a 30 minute trip to a nearby in-n-out... our total for the ride .. 13-dollars. nats driving away uber tells fox5 in the first year grown... and has already introduced new services like uber eats.... a meal delivery service. for the local drivers we spoke to... uber is an easy way to make extra cash and choose their own schedule. whats the most exicting part about being an uber driver? meeting new people and gettin to talk to em uber also just released uber eats... a food delivery service. i also asked uber what was their busiest time this past year.. they told me the

the u-n-l-v football team is back on the road... for a tough test tomorrow against central michigan. fox 5's kevin bolinger is with the team in mount pleasant and has a preview. kevin on cam the rebels arrived here in michigan on friday evening determined to change their fortunes on the road. it won't be easy as they face a central michigan team that is coming off one of the biggest and most dramtic wins in program history. guts last saturday central was the central figure in the most talked about college football game of hits young season. mistakenly given an untimed down at oklahoma state - the chippawas pulled off a hook and ladder trick play for a touchdown to stun oklahoma state in stillwater. now back home - it's bound to be a raucus crowd still celebrating the upset. central has eight starters returning on both sides of the ball but they do most of their damage on offense where they like to spread things out and rely on senior

rush. nfl draft scout dot com ranks rush as the number four q-b prospect in the 2017 nfl draft. ironically - rush's first ever collegiate start was in 2013 - against unlv at sam boyd stadium....a game where the rebels rallied from a 21 point deficit to win 31-21. since then he has terrorized opposing defenses getting lots of time from a huge offensive line. but unlv head coach tony sanchez likes the match-up. tony sanchez: we've got our work cut out for us but we're excited. we look at the tape and we feel like we're a fairly evenly matched up team. they're big feel like we have a little bit of a speed advantage. now we've got to get that speed into space. we've got to use that speed. they're a team that knows how to win and they get to bowl games. we're a team that's learning how to win. under sanchez - unlv has led or been within 7 points in 11 of the 14 games. this game should be no different - the rebels just have to learn to close. kevin on cam the forecast is calling for rain which could play in unlv's favor since they have an advantage in the run game. kick-off is set for noon las vegas time. we'll have complete

a group is launching a formal campaign against legalizing recreational marijuana in the silver state. it's being backed by some heavy hitters like governor brian sandoval and the casino industry's trade organization. the group "protecting nevada's children" is behind the first major push against question two on the november ballot. those opposing the measure include senator dean heller.... nevada attorney general adam laxalt.... representative joe heck... and the nevada resort association. if you're looking for something to do this weekend... craig ranch park is the place to be!
