"nevada's state flower". but now, get ready to see more of them! a two year project is officially underway... to widen the i-15 near the las vegas motor speedway. fox5's christine maddela joins us live from our newsroom to explain why this project is so important. this project will widen five miles of the four-lane interstate to six travel lanes. let's take a look at the area that will be affected. the project is near north las vegas. it will expand a stretch of highway between craig road and speedway boulevard. crews will also improve drainage areas and upgrade four overpass structures. fox5 was there for a ground- breaking ceremony today at the las vegas motor speedway. this area sees hundreds of thousands of visitors at a time, for some of our

" it impacts the whole community, when you travel northbound or southbound, you're going to have so much more space to maneuver. that means fewer backups, which is good for the environment, it is good all the way around for people who want to live more efficiently around the valley.
