blast. two officers injured in today's shootout have non-critical injuries. investigators say they've found no evidence so far that the suspect was part of a broader terrorist cell. rahami is a naturalized u-s citizen from afghanistan. he lived with his family above a restaurant owned by his father - near the airport in newark. in minnesota - police say a man who stabbed nine people in a mall saturday - worked as a security guard for one of the stores. he was shot and killed by an off- duty police officer. the job was temporary - and ended in june. the off-duty officer was shopping at the time. he was described by a minnesota police chief as the "right person - at the right place - at the right time" - and someone who - quote - "needed to be there". isis has claimed responsibility for the attack in minnesota. and with all the recent violence - we wanted to know... how safe are we here in a big tourist destination like las vegas? fox5's kathleen jacob joins us live from the strip. kathleen what did you find out? christine... john... i

safe here than in other big cities... and the people that i talked to... both locals and tourists... all seemed to feel pretty safe... despite the recent attacks. (nats elvis interacting with tourists) mark rumpler has lived and worked right on the strip for more than a decade now. i'll tell you what, i keep an eye out on every, cause we have tourists and stuff, i watch a lot, and i have to say our police in the city are probably as good as any police i've ever seen. they're everywhere and they're really keeping an eye on stuff. it's why he's confident the people of las vegas are protected when

a man attacked the people, the tourists with a knife... and i helped to stop him...the police were here in one minute... and i swear it's because of the surveillance. and that suveillance is second to none... there's barely an inch of the city that the cameras don't capture. but... police want citizens to be on alert as well. what does a terrorist look like? what does a criminal look like? there really is no picture for that, it's based on their behavior and the things that they do prior to the act and fact. we run down every lead to the ground to determine whether or not there are additional things the police or the government can do to prevent a terrorist act. they say... look out for people who are suspiciously filming things, asking specific security questions, and testing security limits, my first time here and i felt a little bit worried, but when i arrive i felt very, how can i say secure? paloma pereiera was a little worried traveling to las vegas from brazil... especially with the recent attacks on

but as soon as she arrived... that fear vanished. the police, they're on every side of the road, the city, i just felt very... (nods). and to the cities that were recently attacked? they have to be really strong and have faith and i hope everything will be okay, i pray for them. our local police departments haven't made any changes since the attacks this past weekend. but just a reminder... we do have a joint terrorist task force here in las vegas... they're always working to stay one step ahead of any possible attacks. in the wake of terror activity... metro warns... "if you see something... say something". that was the case today in beatty - about 120 miles northwest of las vegas. metro police confirm that a suspicious package was reported - and is sending officers there. no word on any danger - from the discovery police say speed
