threat of terror - here in las vegas. today - metro police walked us through changes they've made since the recent terror attacks on our country. fox5's kathleen jacob is live in the newsroom - after seeing police in action today. that's right guys.... it was actually a very comforting feeling to see everything they're doing. they took me inside a room they call the fusion room today. it's where all the different agencies from around our state work together to combat terrorism. and when i say all the agencies... i really mean all. this is not just a couple groups coming together... this are at least twenty different agencies working around the clock to make sure we don't become a target. the screens you see here in this room always have eyes on them. we have the ability to be able to look at those cameras, to reach out, and pass that information along' but that's not the only thing that sets las vegas apart from other cities when it comes to terrorism,i we're very
6:07 pm
relationships here with out hotel casino partners. we have the ability to talk to them and be able to pass that information along and that pass information on to us. so it really is true partners with the community. and that's not the only partnership las vegas metropolitan police have with the community. in this room at any given time... there can be twenty different agencies working together. from school police, to hoover even the forest service... all on the other side of cameras like these. we are shifting and adjusting resources and putting them in places where they have more visibility. standup: and what that means is... not only do they have units on the ground patrolling and protecting us... but they also have more officers in locations where they have very high visibility, so they don't miss a thing. we are currently doing what we call surges. so we're moving officers at random times of the day, random locations, to have that presence. moving them randomly... so people keeping tabs on surveillence for the the wrong reasons... won't get very far. (shot of filming camera) (nats police noise) if it doesn't look right, if it makes the hair on the back of your neck
6:08 pm
some of those things you should call about are people taking pictures or video of surveillance... asking specific questions about security.. and testing security limits. i like how officer cordero put it... anything that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. live in the newsroom... kathleen jacob... action news. if you do notice something and decide to call in... you can remain completely anonymous. you can also report suspicious activity through their website. there were some sprinkles in parts of the today. and more rain might be on the way for tonight. let's check in with fox five's chief meteorlogist ted pretty with a look at the forecast. slight chances of showers remain for tonight with a morning start wednesday of 68 degrees. we'll see partly cloudy skies and 88 degrees on wednesday afternoon with slight shower chances moving in by the evening and lasting into the
