rider smashed through a window into the s-u-v. i'm christine maddela. i'm dave hall in for john huck tonight. the crash happened on the west side of the valley at the intersection of hualapai and alta. that where we find fox 5's cyndi lundberg. she's been talking to police about what happened. dave christine metro police tell us that dirt bike is illegal to be driving on the streets... witnesses told investigators the dirt bike rider gunned a red light and actually ended up inside a car... the a rav4. flying glass and the impact of the crash sent the female driver of that rav4 to umc with non life threatening injuries. the dirt bike rider who was wearing a helmet was pronounced dead at the scene. metro police say they have a message for everyone on our roadways... "right now what we know is that we have a motorcycle rider that shouldn't even have

year's total. a suspect found covered in blood is taken into custody... after two people were found dead in an apartment near mccarran international airport. officers responded to the complex just after noon near tropicana and swenson. police say neighbors heard rustling inside the apartment. when officers went inside -- they found the bodies of a man and woman... and a suspect covered in blood. police believe the victims are husband and wife... and that the suspect was living wi a woman says the man who was killed is her ex- husband... and that the couple were trying to help the suspect with a place to stay. "two innocent people died today for no reason, just for being very kind and helping somebody that was down and out on his luck, it's just sad and my two daughters have lost their father." police say the man in custody was covered in minor cuts and scabs. a baseball bat

cannot confirm if it was used in this incident. a man is accused of shooting his estranged wife and her boyfriend at a parking garage in mccarran international airport. 68-year-old jeffery brown was taken into custody just after eleven p-m last night... at a v-a hospital in north las vegas. police say the victims were returning to las vegas from indianapolis... when they were shot by brown on the sixth floor of the terminal one parking garage. both were conscious when hospital. police were able to arrest brown five hours later. brown faces two counts of attempted murder... assault with a deadly weapon... and two counts of discharging a firearm in prohibited area. with the recent terror attacks across the country -- metro police walked us through what's being done to keep las vegas safe. dozens of agencies work around the clock to combat terrorism. at the fusion center -- these screens show real-time video feeds throughout southern nevada. police say this sets las vegas

" when one road closes... another door opens..." or, something like that. either way... for some downtown business owners life is beautiful is their chance to welcome new customers... " its a positive man, you know you got vendors you know, having their opportunity man, you know to get their businesses name out there" " right before the

huge rush walk by of all the people starting their day up, so we get a good brunch crowd..." see, when it comes to the shops around the music festival.... location is everything... " of course the enterance is right here, we get a lot of stuff going on, everyone passing by" and those located near the 7th and fremont entrance have a front row seat to all the action... " you gotta just come sit up here for a while and you get an eye full" < bridge " more than 130 thousand people are expected to walk through these beautiful weekend... but while that means some great exposure for local businesess.. ".... it also means traffic and parking headaches for people that have to be downtown regardless of the festival" / bridge> " they can schedule plans and everything else, but in our daily activities its a big impact..." see this market... and this church... on the other side of the festival... they don't get the same foot traffic... instead, the closures keep some of their regulars away... close at 1 a.m. the homeless community in downtown las vegas generally have to relocate when "life is beautiful" comes to town. luckily... the music festival's "lighting hope" project makes that transition as easy as possible. in exchange for help with cleaning up the streets before the festival-- the homeless receive a golden ticket to the "corridor of hope." that's where they're treated to breakfast... free hair cuts... showers... and beds. there's also a job fair to help them get back on their feet. "spirits are l there's a lot of tear shedding today, but there's a lot of hope and the volunteers are inspired. you can't help but be here and look and see what's going on and not be affected by it in some positive way." a mural was also painted in the "corridor of hope" to inspire the homeless and remind them that people care about them. the river regatta attracted tens of thousands to bullhead city. now -- it's been canceled next

hit laughlin and bullhead city for the river regatta this year. they left a lot of money... but they also left a lot of trash. and tonight -- after hours of debate -- the bullhead city council voted to not hold the event next year. faith tanner has more on tonight's decision. resident: "i asked you one question, what is your opinion of the regatta? and everyone of you i voted for said you were opposed to it. so i hope you're people of your word" the crowd spilling out the door at the bullhead cy council meeting .... the hot topic that was debated for hours tonight--- should there be a river regatta 2017? month away from halloween... but the white house is already thinking about christmas. a christmas tree has been picked out from a farm in wisconsin. today -- white house officials took a trip to "whispering pines tree farm" in wisconsin to select the perfect tree. they settled on a twenty by twelve foot balsam fir. the farm will cut and deliver the tree after black friday... then present it to the first lady house steps. the tree farm says it's an honor to be selected.
