thanks for joining us for your only local news at 5:30. let's get you up to date with the latest local headlines. the fourth edition of the life is beautiful festival got underway today. the annual event takes over 18 blocks of downtown las vegas... with a combination of big name music acts - food - art - and guest speakers. for some people who live in downtown las vegas-- the big event is causing more headaches than happiness. downtown neighbors say they are restricted to certain areas... their commutes to work and school are longer - and they have safety concerns. the festival is also loud-- meaning most people aren't getting a lot of sleep. "it affects the residents here a lot longer then the people who actually come here for the festival." "we knew there was going to be some inconveniences like all our parking out here, out front was going to go and we were going to be restricted to parking in the back." the chaos doesn't last for just the weekend... festival prep started wednesday... and clean up may not be done until the middle of next week. this weekend - police officers and volunteers

new information - in an unsolved murder from last year. a little more than a year ago - javier ortiz was working on a vehicle in a parking lot near los feliz and carey. police say two people on a three-wheel motorcyle drove by and someone standing nearby fire shots at them. ortiz was hit by the gunfire and killed. his brother and one of the people on the motorcyle were hit and injured. on saturday - officers and volunteers will canvas the area with flyers - and talk to neighbors to try and identify the suspect. they'll meet in front of sunrise mountain high school at 9 a-m saturday. if you have information - call police or crimestoppers - at 702-385-55-55. a metro officer who was arrested earlier this year on domestic violence charges - has been acquitted. a jury returned the not guilty verdict last night... burt took the stand in his own defense this is video of a previous court appearance. burt was taken into custody in january - after police say his

highlands hospital for injuries to her chest and face. burt's attorneys argued that there was no physical evidence she was attacked.. and that she made up the story. we will hear more from burt's attorney tonight at ten. the man accused of killing a man and a woman earlier this week...appears in court this morning. frank interlicchia is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of robin and kelly naples. police recieved a call tuesday of a man outside of an apartment building covered in blood... and the bodies of the man and woman inside. no bail has been set for interlicchia. his hearing is set to continue tuesday september 27-th. a former student of palo verde high school was identified as the victim of a deadly dirt bike crash. the coroner reports 16-year- old shane sanders died as a result of tueday's crash. the manner was ruled an accident. the clark county school district confirmed sanders attended the school for two months at the end of the 2015 to 2016 school year. metro says sanders rode a dirt bike through a red light at the intersection of

alta drive and crashed into a toyota rav4. sanders went through a side window of the vehicle - and pronounced dead. a woman inside the s-u-v was treated at the hospital. joey heck....son of nevada congressman joe heck....is apologizing after being accused of making - and endorsing - hateful social media comments. the 19-year-old college student made vulgar jokes about hillary clinton... his posts also endorsed racist and anti-semitic joey heck issued a lengthy apology through is father's campaign... he says there was no excuse for his actions and that he's seeking professional counseling. "there's no respect anymore. and i don't think. his son obviously shows that he has no respect for anybody. but himself. the heck family says they were deeply disappointed in joey heck's behavior. they say they will stand by him as he works through
