faith.. all of the people that live here in somerset park are like a family. what was clear to me today is that this murder really hit home for a lot of them. 48-year-old michael kaplan is behind bars for this murder... the coroner has not released the name of the woman killed yet...but neighbors say she was a mother of 3... a 7- year-old, a 3 year-old, and a 3 month old. police say three kids those ages were in the home when they arrived at the scene. it's just horrible. (up close crying) it hurts (cries) i just want to hug those kids. neighbors in somerset park are still in shock and disbelief. they seemed like your average normal family. stefane torres woke up to police cars and crime tape covering her block... when she heard police were investigating the murder of her 30- year-old neighbor... her heart sunk. the three month old, he's never gonna know his mom but in pictures.

not have me (crying). police say a man called them around 5 in the morning... asking for medical help... when they arrived... they found a 30-year- old woman dead from what looked like a stab wound. the caller was still at the home... and police arrested him for murder. the three children were taken by child protective services. it was just heart breaking (wipes a tear) , just heart breaking because you know if they were my kids i wouldn't know, i'd just be holding them because they need someone to love them. gonna be pretty quiet for a long time because you know it's a devestating event. again...the man facing charges for this murder is 48-year-old michael kaplan. police are calling this a domestic murder...but say they were never called to the home for a domestic disturbance before this. reporting live...kathleen jacob... fox5 news.. local. las vegas. this is still an open investigation... we'll be following it

know as soon as we get more information. metro police held a community meeting today at the avery park apartments. it's the same place where two men were gunned down earlier this month. officers partnered with victory outreach summerlin for the event. it was an opportunity for police and community partners to talk about reducing crime in the area. metro is already planning more events at the complex... to let folks know they're sticking around for support. in two weeks-- they'll host a childr day and basketball tournament. suspect in the deadly washington state mall shooting. they say 20-year- old arcan cetin is from oak harbor washington. authorities announced earlier that the suspect had been arrested this evening. the gunman opened fire at the cascade mall in burlington washington friday killing four female victims.. and one male before running away. the manhut for the suspect lasted more than 20 hours. police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting. after five straight days of protests-- police in north carolina are finally releasing footage of tuesday's police shooting. fox news correspondent steve harrigan has the latest from charlotte. putney says: "what we're releasing are the objective facts.
