i'm john huck. the robber had a knife and a gun... and attacked the mom as she was dropping off her little girl at daycare. fox5's adam herbets spoke to family... and joins us live from where it happened, near boulder highway and desert inn. the mom doesn't blame the neighborhood or the daycare.... she just blames the guy who attacked her as she was getting out of her car right in this area. > > she says it was almost 5 in the morning... she was on her way to work... and she didn't want to give up her car, until she saw the guy had a knife... and a gun. at that point she said look, my 4 year old baby girl is the most important thing. she didnt want to take any chances, so she gave him her keys. > > take a look -- this is the car we're looking for. > > its a 2016 hyundai elantra. > she just bought it a couple months ago. > the license plate is 89b 541 >

mom says she thinks the guy who robbed her was actually at the casino, and now theyre working with metro to go through surveillance video and find this guy. > > of course if you see the car -- please call the police. > > we're live at the daycare. adam herbets. fox5 news local las vegas. a person who was stabbed died... after being dropped off at mountain view hospital. police say the victim was taken to the hospital around 12-30 p-m. when officers got there -- the person had already ed a second victim -- who police say may have a connection to the first -- was also treated at mountain view hospital. their condition has not been released yet. police say another scene near rancho and washington may be related to the death. no word yet on a suspect or suspects. we will bring you more on this deadly stabbing on fox five news at ten... and fox five vegas dot com. we have new details of what happened inside a starbucks sunday when one customer shot and killed another. what's still not clear is why... but the suspect did tell police one

fox5's kathleen jacob is live at the now reopened starbucks with what we've learned about the shooter and the victim today. guys... the biggest thing is the identity of the victim... alexandre cut-zek-feely. we're still working to learn more about him... but right now we know he is a 41- year-old man and at one point he lived downtown. now the starbucks is back open... and today we saw people coming in to pay tribute to the victim and people that went through this. i just wanted them all to know that my thoughts and my prayers have been with them for the last few days and for them to just stay strong and to get

thinking about them. for cindy westergard... the shooting at starbucks hit hard. my brother did lose his life at his job 11 years ago. so for her... visiting the starbucks employees that witnessed the deadly shooting at work is a priority. i was just mortified and so scared for all the people working here. she wasn't the only one... the first customers in when the store opened back up were a group of metro police ... after a long and lengthy investigation that began sunday just after eleven. they say pedro garcia is the man who came in.. fired a gun twice into the air.. and then shot cut-zek- feely. we reached out to garcia's wife.. who told us this is completely out of his character. she says garcia hasn't been the same since his brother hung himself. her facebook shows loving notes from garcia from just last week... saying he loved her and was off to the library. she hasn't spoken with him since the starbuck's shooting... and says she has no idea what happened. questions police and the community are still trying to

garcia will be in court tomorrow morning. he was originally put in medically restricted housing.. but police were not able to say if he had any sort of mental illness. according to his facebook page... he went to rancho high school. reporting live,,,kathleen jacob...fox 5 news... local. las vegas. garcia is currently facing open murder charges.. robbery with a deadly weapon... burglary with a deadly weapon.. and firing a weapon into a structure. let's check in with fox five's chief meteorlogist ted pretty with a look at the forecast.

and the voter registration deadline is drawing closer. today -- dozens came out to register to vote... in honor of "national voter registration day". the diverse southern nevada coalition held the event at seafood city -- near maryland parkway and flamingo. organizer say the process to register to vote only takes a couple minutes. you need your nevada driver's license or state i-d card. you can do it all online through the nevada secretary of state's website. "it is important voices are numbers counted. and issues also addressed." "its an action we wanted to take to raise the consciousness of folks in maryland parkway corridor this is something community needs addressing." here are the deadlines in nevada. you can register in person and online up to october 18-th. to mail in your registration -- the deadline is october 8-th. we have more voter registration

and patrons rallied for nevada casinos to go smoke-free. more than a dozen gathered outside of the sands expo convention center. they say that second-hand smoke in casinos may lead to serious health effects... and that the toxic pollutants can cause heart disease, asthma, breast and lung cancer... and many other illnesses which can lead to death. this rally comes as m-g-m resorts plans to build a one point four billion dollar smoke -free casino in maryland. "we think its time for nevada legislaters to come forward. we need a to elminate this exemption. everyone in nevada should be treated fairly and equally and not discriminate against anyone based on who there employer is. second hand smoke is toxic it's affecting the employess and patrons and the fact of the matter is, it's smoke free in almost every other state except here." across the country -- nearly 800 casinos and gaming operations are smoke free. a ton of new slot machines will appear on casino carpets soon... but most of them are making their debut this week at the
