a suspect is dead and a police officer is injured, after a shootout this morning. this happened in kingman arizona... which is about an hour an a half away from our valley. and this started over a search warrant for stolen property. fox5's eric hilt joins us live from kingman now with what police are saying about the suspect.

a massive train crash in new jersey leaves one person dead, and more than 100 people hurt. investigators say the passenger train slammed into a terminal in hoboken... just outside new york city. part of the terminal roof collapsed, and the train went into a building. one survivor says he was standing in the front car, when the train crashed. " investigators are looking at a number of factors in this crash, including the track, signals, and operation error. they are comparing it to a crash that happened at this station back in 2011 to see if there are any similarities. coming up at four-40, we will get a live report from hoboken on where the investigation stands now. nevada's education savings account program is permanently suspended... after a nevada supreme court ruling today. justices issued a four to two ruling on the voucher-style program. the ruling says e-s-a is unlawful because its drawing on money for public schools. the program has been hotly debated since lawmakers passed it last year. families would have been able to use public funds for private school tuition. groups filed lawsuits against e-s-a, with some saying that money should not go to religious organizations. no funds were ever given out to famlies. a man convicted of killing his fiance with a butcher knife... is now accused of attacking a jail

police say "david frostick" hit a corrections officer in the face with a flashlight, and used his legs to try and choke him. this happened last wednesday at the clark county detention center. metro says the officer was taken to the hospital, but will be okay. the attack came just a few days after a jury decided frostick should get life in prison without parole... for the 2009 killing of "robin lesley jenkens". people in the valley are spooked after a schoolers at chaparral high school received a friend request from a scary looking clown. fox5s abby theodros spent the day looking into this situation and has more on how students are reacting and what police are saying about the situation thankfully - ccsd police are calling it a hoax but that doesn't mean students didn't get a good scare when they first got a friend request from a clown that kind of resembled the ones you're seeing here this is the profile picture students saw when they

a new traffic light is helping control traffic at blue diamond and el capitan. this is an area that definitely needed it! the light's signals were activated early this morning. the traffic light is part of a two- point-four million dollar project to improve this road, and make it safer for everyone. more than 42 thousand cars travel on blue diamond every day. and as the mountain edge area grows, more cars will be using these roads. a crash happened right down the street from this new light, at blue diamond and decatur. police say a car plowed into the back of a las vegas paving hauler. one person had minor injuries. warm weather, bad attitudes, and zodiac signs are just a few of the many excuses judges hear... from people trying to get out of jy duty.
