police officer injured during a shootout in kingman, arizona. it happened while police were trying to execute a search warrant. fox5's eric hilt is live in kingman with more on the investigation. police say the officer who was shot was taken to a hospital, underwent surgery and is in serious but stable condition tonight. they also identified the man who was killed as 53 year old jeffery clair cave, he was pronounced dead here at the scene. police tell us the shootout started at 9:30 when police came to this home to search for stolen property - they save cave shot at the officers hitting one of them. during a shootout cave was shot and killed. neighbors say they heard as many as six shots this morning and it's something that they're not used to hearing in this

this investigation is being handled by bullhead city since it is an officer involved shooting. that is kingman police department protocol. a school bus was involved in a crash this afternoon-- but no kids were on board. a viewer sent us this video. metro police say the crash happened at flamingo and jones just after four. the bus hit a car making an unsafe turn... and that car hit two others. those involved had minor injuries... but again, no kids were

the nevada supreme court has ruled the state voucher's program -- "education savings account" -- should remain permanently suspended. public education advocates say this decision is critical. "i believe parent should've been told there was a serious constitutional challenge to this program and people should've been told this is not something you can count on. perhaps it's going to be constitutional, perhaps it's not." they say the problem with the program was that it did not have it's own funding source... and unlawfully money from public schools. the program was authorized last spring by nevada legislatures... allowing parents to use public funds for private school tuition. we're more than a month away from casting our ballots on election day... and hundreds of poll workers are needed at several voting sites around the valley. the county election department will recruit an additional 350 people to work the polls on election day. they would like about a hundred people to be fluent in spanish and tagalog. applicants must be registered to
