stand off with the man accused of killing his grandma. neighbors tell me the family would always say "hello" and never caused problems. they say this was the last thing they expected. joey luera, neighbor: it makes you think. you dont really know who you're living next to neighbors called it the quiet house on the block. joey luera, neighbor:you dont expect that kind of stuff to happen in summerlin that quiet home was swarmed by police tuesday. police say 43-year-old bradley francis shot and grandmother, known by neighbors as marylin. it happened in the middle of the street. jon swindells (swin-dells):to do that to someone is close to you and living with you, i just cant fathom how one would do that to their own grandmother he never seemed like the type. jon swindells says he's lived on this block for nearly two decades and knew marylin as a kind woman who'd always say 'hello' jon swindells (swin-dells): she was always walking on the street up and down, and she just had, something about her, that grandmotherly feel to her and you never just want to see what happened.

drivers will want to stay clear of the "spaghetti bowl" later tonight. the transition ramp from northbound i-15 to northbound u-s 95 will be closed from 10 p-m tonight... to 6 a-m tomorrow morning. that's the ramp heads towards summerlin and the northwest. a detour will direct drivers to exit at las vegas boulev loop back onto u-s 95 northbound. crews plan to remove an electronic sign to make way for a carpool flyover bridge. a similar ramp closure last month created significant traffic delays. the work is part of the one billion dollar "project neon" - to widen the congested i-15 between sahara and downtown. we're still waiting on a team name and logo... but las vegas took another big step today... in welcoming its new n-h-l franchise.

the southeast united states... continues to brace for hurrican matthew. you're looking at people in florida... packing up sandbags... hoping to protect their homes and property. the or bahamas - after marching through other parts of the caribbean - and haiti. here's what we know right now. at least eleven deaths have been connected to the storm. haiti has indefinitely postponed its presidential election - set for sunday - due to extensive damage in the country. hurricane matthew could hit florida by late thursday - or early friday morning - then move up the east coast towards the carolinas over the weekend. florida governor rick scott says his state could be facing its - quote - "biggest evacuation ever"

an animal hospital is seeking help for one of its favorite volunteers--after her money was stolen it happened when 91- year -old carmela paul shopping at walmart monday. he money was snatched from her pocket while at the checkout line. now - now south shore animal hospital - where paul volunteers - is raising money - to help replace the cash - which was her spending money for the month. "i wanted to obviously recoop her lost money. but it was more about raising awareness. as a community i feel that we need to really need to keep our eyes and ears open for people targeting the elderly. its something that happens everyday.
