today from discussing the future of an n-f-l stadium here in las vegas. fox5 sports director kevin bolinger has been following the special session in carson city. he shows us what was done today, and what we can expect tomorrow. it's been a quiet day here on the capitol grounds as lawmakers are off for the jewish holiday. but there was still a lot of work being done behind the scenes to get ready for the gavel to drop again on thursday. all with the ultimate goal of ending up in this building behind me, the state capitol, and inside the governor's office so he can potentially sign senate bill 1 and assembly bill 1 into law. nats of senate vote when the state senate passed the stadium and convention center bill early tuesday evening th legislature went into recess. but many assembly lawmakers spent the off day laying the groundwork with meetings and work

his cellmate inside the clark county detention center on saturday attempted to kill another inmate just a month before. franklin sharp is accused of strangling and killing jeremiah bowling... but a month before that death, police say they caught sharp choking another inmate. fox5's eric hilt has been digging through documents to try and figure out how this was happened...eric? even after franklin sharp was caught trying to kill an inmate he was still allowed to be around other prisoners. sharp was initially booked into the ccdc in june on robbery charges, after police say he pulled a knife on a stranger and told the man to "beg for his life." and police say in september, while in jail... sharp was caught trying to kill his cellmate. in these arrest reports, correctional officers said they could hear sharp telling the inmate

to choke him. a month after that incident -- sharp was allowed to have another cell mate jeremiah bowling...and on saturday police say sharp beat and strangled bowling. the death is something bowling's family says should have never happened inside of the jail. "how, how does that happen? where's the staff? where's the security?" "i just dont see how this happens, i dont see it at all, and they're in the wrong, they should have protected my little brother" we reached out to the clark county detention center to ask why -- after sharp had already attempted to kill one inmate -- he was allowed to have another cell mate. we have not gotten any answers from jail officials. on to some national stories now... national guard members are performing water rescues all around north carolina. flooding is espeically bad in "lumberton" after hurricane

thousands of people have been rescued by boat and helicopter. at least 27 people in four states have lost their lives after the storm. investigators say a small fatal plane crash in connecticut was intentional. according to the national transportation safety board... the surviving pilot told detectives he and his student got in an argument, after the student didn't want to fly the plane anymore. the pilot says the student started flying the plane erratically, and eventually crashed the plane. the student pilot was killed, and the instructor suffered critical injuries. "(donald trump/(r) presidential candidate) "i don't want his support i don't care about his support, " donald trump is lashing out against house speaker paul ryan and other republicans... after many abandoned him just weeks before the election. trump expressed his disgust in a series of tweets. he also continued to call his lewd comments in a leaked video, quote, "locker room talk." trump's campaign is now focusing on hillary clinton's emails that were released through wiki-leaks. moms in missouri are disturbed... after finding maggots in baby formula!

" helen williamson says she noticed "waves" in her brand new bottle of "nurtramigen". she held it to the light, and saw tiny worms crawling through the powder! another mom says a similar thing happened when she opened a new container of "similac." " (helen williamson/mother) "you know i depend on that company and this is what that this isn't the first time. it's not right. it really isn't." the company behind similac says based on the size of the maggots, they got into the container after it left the factory and the safety seal was removed. both mothers say these were new bottles and they saw the bugs shortly after opening them. one tourism company is taking a stand, when it comes to animal rights. why this popular travel site will no longer help people out, if they want to go to zoos or aquariums.

prius owners this afternoon... toyota is recalling 340 thousand of these cars, because of faulty brakes. the japanese automaker says there is a possiblity the parking brake on 2016 and 2017 models could stop working. the car could then roll away and cause a crash. toyota will start notifying prius owners about the recall in november owners can get their cars fixed at a dealership at no cost to them. learning to drive can be both exciting and daunting for teens. and driving instructors are seeing the same mistakes over and over again. triple-a surveyed 142 driving instructors who work with young drivers. two of the biggest mistakes they see are ones you would expect... speeding and distracted driving. but they also see a lot of what they call "poor visual scanning." instructors say teens drive with

they don't properly scan the road for hazards. another problem... parents! driving instructors say parents aren't setting a good example for younger drivers. 77 percent of adult drivers talk on the phone while driving... and 46 admit to speeding. people hoping to get a package deal on plane tickets, hotels, and a zoo will have to skip "trip advisor." the company is the first major booking site to stop selling tickets to attractions involving captive animals. tripadvisor says it spent six months researching what zoo and aquarium life does to animals. the company says it wants travelers to make thoughtful decisions when paying for these kinds of attractions. tourists will still be able to book visits if the animals are domesticated... like a horse-back riding experience. one haunted house here in our valley has some hollywood touches in it. and you'll want to watch out for zombies if you dare to visit!
