we begin fox 5 news at six with breaking news... i'm adam herbe i'm cyndi lundeburg. a man babysitting an 18-month-old is behind bars after the child was found with severe burns... and later died. 21-year-old demond billingsley is not related to the little girl... but was babysitting... and police believe he is responsible for her injuries. the little girl was found unresponsive yesterday afternoon near sierra vista drive and desert inn. she was taken to sunrise hospital where staff saw injuries that were consistent with abuse. detectives say the child had severe burns and bruising

ccsd police have arrested a 14- year-old student for bringing a gun to mojave high school. c-c-s-d police tell us the student was taken to juvenille detention and charged with having a weapon. ccsd police say that student did not pull the gun on anyone or make any verbal threats. but a mother of another student tells fox5 a erent story. we will have that for you tonight on fox five news at 10 and 11. friday night lights....or...friday night fights??.... c-c-s-d is hoping tonight it's only lights. this after last week's high school brawl at a north las vegas in-n-out and raising canes..... theese fights happened after a high school football game between arbor view and centennial.... c-c-s-d police say because of the incident.. they're beefing up their presence county wide... fox5's vince sapienza is at shadow ridge high school..... vince how's security look? cyndi... adam.... on a normal night.. at a high school football game.....under

circumstances.... c-c-s-d-p-d tells me there is a minimum of six officers present... now police wouldn't give me a number ....but we're a little less than an hour from kick-off and i have counted...xxx officers around the stadium... but i'm told it's not just here.. they're adding extra security county wide tonight... now c-c-s-d-p-d tells me is has teamed up with metro tonight for extra security.. i asked how often they do that....and i was told it's not unusual to team up with metro or even henderson p-d depending on the types of games...the rivalries..etc... i'm also told it's not unsual for c- c-s-d-p-d to patrol off campus under special circumstances... but police would not tell me where those would be tonight... in north las vegas.. vince sapienza.. fox 5 news..local.. las

parents in the valley are upset because of problems with their kids' bus system. with issues ranging from delayed drop off times to inexperinced bus drivers. ccsd says theyre short about a hundred drivers and need all the help they can get. . fox5 received a message from a mother who says her bus driver asked the kids on the bus for directions. ccsd couldnt verify the complaints but says they have a serious bus driver shortage. that means temps could explain the complaints of delays and inexperienced drivers. melinda malone, ccsd spokeswoman: sometimes the driver is given that route that day, and they need to fill in they have instructions but they are learning as they go. theyre experienced bus drivers but they're not familiar with that particular route so that does cause delays. ccsd says even though theyve gotten some complaints- they have a 95 percent on time rate. but they want to get that up to 100 percent. which means they need more permanent drivers.

--- nevada lawmakers have approved the las vegas stadium deal. and now the bill is sitting on the governor's desk... for him to sign. faith tanner was there for the big vote today state and is live in carson city with reaction, faith? reaction, faith? state lawmakers approving 750 million in public funding to build a 1 point 9 billion dollar stadium-- and now vegas is one giant leap closer to having a professional football team. nats::: of vote the plan to build a nfl stadium-- a done deal in the state legislature. the state assembly-- passing it by a vote of 28 to 13. the exact number of votes needed to get a 2/3rds majority. sot anderson: "we did our job and vetted the bill we went through it and made some amendments we made some changes yesterday late into the morning, but they were things that were great we added representation for unlv we got them essentially free rent in that new stadium" the senate quickly

stadium proponents started celebrating. sot: andy abboud "what a great sign in how good people in las vegas should feel that all these people came together to get this done" sot: tommy white "i can't wait, all we want to do is go back to work and put up thousands of people back to work" the 1.9 billion dollar stadium plan features $650 million from developer, sheldon adelson. $500 million from the oakland raiders and $750 million in public funding that will be raised by increasing the hotel room tax by point-88 percent. lawmakers voting against the bill-- still call it a bad deal for taxpayers. sot :ira hansen: "the taxpayers in nevada just lost, because the financial arrangement of the stadium is all profit for the raiders and all liability for the taxpayer"

decision made and a signature from the governor expected in las vegas on monday--- now the push turns toward getting the ok from nfl owners to move the raiders to vegas. sot : with a lot of good luck and good messaging we feel that they are going to get through the nfl process and we're going to change this city" nfl owners will meet next tuesday for an annual meeting... there raiders owner mark davis will start selling the move. an official vote from nfl owners not expected to come until january. the bill also included 1-point-4 billion dollars in funding to expand the las vegas convention center. a large wildfire is spreading quickly in the lake tahoe area... and strong, 70- mile-per-hour winds could make it worse. it's called "the emerald fire".. because it is burning near emerald bay. it's scorched about 200 acres

percent contained. 500 homes in the south lake tahoe area are under a mandatory evacuation... several roads are shut down, and evacuation shelters are being set up at a reno elementary school. looks like it's going to be a windy one this weekend. let's check in with fox five's meteorlogist sam argier with a look at the forecast. gusty winds will continue through the weekend. a red flag warning is in effect for the las vegas ll the dry and windy weather. the fire danger is elevated with wind gusts in the 35 to 40 mph range. temperatures remain above average with a forecast high of 90 degrees on saturday. we'll be in the mid to low 80s sunday and monday with some mid and high-level clouds

customers at a local bank targeted by crooks the credit union had to deactivite debit cards after card information was stolen fox5's eric hilt talked with the president of the companay -- eric how did this happen? one nevada says this happened when crooks put a skimmer on a card reader (like this?) that skimmer picked up confidential information from customers and let the crooks steal money from several cardholders. one nevada president brad beal wouldn't tell us exactly how many people were affected by the breach or how many had money stolen -- but said all of that stolen money will be reimbursed by the credit union. the customers impacted by the hack say they got a call yesterday, telling them their debit card had to be deactivated and they had to get a new card at a one nevada branch... beal says after this breach there won't be any changes of policy at the credit union

morning. a neighbor says he heard a boom so powerful... he says it even knocked things off the walls of his house. he thought there may have been a car accident, but when he went outside he saw the pile of rubble and people in need of help.
