live look inside the thomas and mack center... where the candidates will take the stage in less than two hours. we will continue our coverage of the debate in just a few minutes. but first, let's get you caught up on other local news. a car jacking suspect was shot by a trooper this morning after police say he stole a car at a gas station. this began a miles long chase with police... then the suspect tried to steal a second car from a henderson neighborhood. fox5's theodros has been following this story all day... she joins us now le from the newsroom with more details... this ordeal started at the am pm on fremont street. employees tell me that a woman was waiting to get her car washed around 7:30 this morning when a man forced her out of her toyota scion left the gas station, and led highway patrol on a twelve mile chase along the 95. during that chase - police say the suspect hit another car and damaged the scion so bad - he stopped in henderson near

and tried to car jack an elderly couple. "jason buratczuck: that victim was thrown to the grown violently at that time, a trooper was on scene and attempted to take that subject into custody where a struggle ensued. " that struggle ended with a trooper shooting the suspect in the torso. police didnt give us much detail on the suspect but they say he's 28 years old. we're also told he was taken to sunrise hospital and is stable. the elderly man was also treated for minor injuries at the scene. both henderson and metro police are investigating the incident. now fox5 weather 24/7, with chief meterologist ted pretty we'll keep very light north breezes overnight and

best friend of randy dexter. an army veteran - now unlv student who was selected to volunteer at the presidential debate. "my wife was making fun of me when i found out, because i was like a giddy little kid." randy and captain were just two of a thousand unlv students selected to volunteer. of the thousand.. only a quarter of them are credentialed to be in the media center. "historically speaking i'm glad in the future hopefully, when i'm a seasoned reporter i get to look back and say that i was a part of that." jenn will be one of the runners in the media center wednesday night. but it wasn't till a few weeks ago she found out. "i did get very emotional when i found out, i could not believe it." standup the sign up process started back in may students had to fill out a multiple page application online along with submitting a state license...a reference letter... their passport....social security number...and a head shot... just to be considered. "i have sacrificed a lot, student loans, you name it, time with my family, things are starting to come together and this is one of those things that make me feel i am in the right
