and desert inn. john christine the checkpoint began at 7 and within the first 10 minutes two people were already pulled from their cars and being checked. metro says they try and do these checkpoints every month or every other month. about 30 officers are out here. and they've blocked a quarter mile cars are filing in. officers were instructed if they believe its not alcohol and drugs to alert someone immediately they were also told if you're dealing with a dui to make sure their body cameras are rolling. we talked to the lt of the traffic division about tonight's efforts... "ultimately, we've

fireworks the indians took game one of the world series in a big way tonight.. beating the chicago cubs at home.. 6 to nothing. the cubs showed some signs of life throughout the game ... but kept leaving runners on base. while las vegas doesn't have a major league team ... we do have a hometown kid in the series. bonanza high school grad...ri the cubs' best players. fox-5 caught up with one of his former coaches... on what it's like to see him on baseball's biggest stage.. "it's nuts to see him there at that point in his life and career, it just keeps getting better, i'm so proud of him because he's such a fantastic kid, i tell people all the time, as good a ball player as he is, he's a better person, better individual, and he's so genuine in everything you see and the

he's so genuine, their is nothing phony about him, he's the same guy i see on tv now as i remember in high school that's the best part about it." because of the threat of rain in cleveland tomorrow night ... major leage baseball has moved game two of the world series up by 30 minutes.. meaning the game will now begin at 4:08 our time. and every four years the world series crosses paths with the presidential election.. one tradition is on a campaign plane for reporters to write a question on an orange and roll it to the front of the plane where the candidate will write their answer.. today -- reporters used a baseball on mike pence's plane.. they wrote .. "governor, rooting for the cubs or the team from ohio?" and he played along .. responding... "two great teams- it's gonna be a great world series...go cubs go! mike pence a life-long cubs fan." early voting in clark county has been going on for 4 days but already there are some people who say the electric voting machines are not counting votes fairly...

been popping up nation wide so we sent fox5's miguel martinez valle to investigate these local claims. john today i went to three different polling stations across clark county, i even voted myself... and while i didn't come across any issues.... one woman says she saw vote flipping first hand. " he said that when he hit the submit button or whatever everything shifted, it wasn't the same people that he voted for" angela gramke was all set to cast her vote... but when the man voting next to her started having problems with his ballot... she decided to hold off. " i already kind of feel like its rigged, and then that kind of... i couldn't believe that that happened" similar reports of electric ballot receipts not matching peoples votes have popped up nation wide. leading local voters to pay extra attention before casting their balot. " i did hear about some problems in

i definitely made sure my balot went in right" " i spoke to clark county election department today, they told me they've been using the same electric voting machines for years and they've never had a problem" so we sent our intern joaquin lomeli to the poll angela visited earlier to see if he had any issues... " it completely matched to everything i marked on the ballot, there were absolutely no lomali and many others voters told me, their voting went off without a hitch... " she double checked it for me to make sure that everything matched up" still, mistakes do happen... so voters are given the option to look over their ballot before sending it in... " a ballot on the screen that shows you the results, and then a printed paper ballot that you review before you cast your vote..." angela decided to wait on voting until she felt confident the machines would work... as for others... they feel their vote was counted fair and square... " no, it did not look like it was rigged, it did not feel like it was rigged,

clark counties election department told me they havent been recieving complaint calls.... and the polling station this happened at even told me they had a smooth day today... mmv, ffn, ll we're told the man who experienced the issues today was told to fill out a comment card explaining his problem. republican vice presidential nominee mike pence is heading to reno this week. it's one of the stops planned for a campaign swing through the west. the indiana governor will stump for running mate donald trump here in nevada-- before heading to utah and colorado. vice president joe biden is also heading to the silver state. he's campaigning for democratic candidates in reno and vegas this weekend. biden will be urging voters to head the polls and take advantage of early voting. do you remember the naked donald trump statues that popped up across the country .. including here in als vegas.. someone just bought one of them at auction for 22-thousand dollars!

we're showing you video of the deadly officer involved shooting that happened last week at the cadillac dealership off of auto show drive. gunshot-- munoz screaming highway patrol released the dash cam and surveillance video showing trooper david dudley shoot and kill 28- year-old javier munoz after a car jacking..high speed chase...and then another attempted car jacking. investigators say they don't know what munoz was doing in las vegas.. he's from arizona .. but they say it's clear he was waiting for his next victim. troopers say munoz did not have a gun... but did have a deadly weapon. "absolutely, that vehicle is a 45 hundred pound deadly weapon, especially when drove in a reckless manner and in total

safety of the public around them." the trooper who shot munoz has been with n-h-p for 17 years. more than a dozen dogs .. appearing to be starving and sick according to experts .. have been removed from a valley home by animal control. fox 5's faith tanner brings us more on the investigation and what's next for the dogs. this is the home.. near silverado ranch and maryland parkway... where 18 dogs were removed on friday. witness say police and animal control officers were here for hours. tonight those dogs are being cared for at the animal foundation while the investigation continues. jennifer coppock, saw dogs being removed sot : "i was shocked, i was horrified" jennifer coppock says it was heart- breaking to watch these 18 dogs be removed one at a time.. from this valley home near silverado ranch. most of them are skinny and starved. this one is almost nothing but skin and bones. sot: "we just didn't know that she had collected so many and that they were in the condition that they were in" coppock says she knows the dogs owner from the

an animal rescue called deaf dogs of america. coppock tells us five of these dogs are deaf. sot : "we had helped her in the past with dog food several years ago and back then she had a much more managable number and we just didnt know she had collected so many that they were in the condition that they were in" she told me her organization at first planned to helped the owner... by giving her dog food.. and offering to find new homes for some of th pets. but she says the owner refused the help so they called animal control "we tried as hard as we could and then we had to contact the authorities because we couldn't leave them in that condition" comments online show talk of a possible feud between coppock and the owner. we showed up to the owners house to try to get some answers-- but a sign on the door reads please don't knock or ring the door bell. right now the dogs are at the animal foundation--- getting food and care-- while the investigation continues. coppock says she looks forward to helping make sure

national guard veterans in california have been told to pay back millions of dollars they received in re- signing bonuses ten years ago. here in nevada... guard soldiers are being told not to worry. the california soldiers were offered around 15

in the national guard. many also received student loan forgiveness and officer bonuses. officials now say this was a mistake, and the soldiers were not eligible for that money. well known and controversial arizona, sheriff joe arpaio has been charged with contempt of court. a federal judge ordered arpaio to stand trial in december. he's accused of disobeying the terms of a 2011 court injunction barring his officers from stopping and detaining drivers based on suspicion they were country illegally. the 84-year-old is currently seeking a seventh term as maricopa county sheriff. a 16-year-old is fighting for his life after being shot outside a middle school in sandy, utah. it happened this afternoon just as classes were being dismissed at union middle school. police say a 14- year old student shot the 16-year old twice. the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. the suspected shooter in now in police custody. no word on what sparked the

the raiders to las vegas gets a powerful endorsement.. hall of fame coach john madden -- who also coached the raiders -- has thrown his support behind the move. "sports illustrated" writes the team has no other choice because it cannot continue to play in its current stadium. madden is also glad the team hasn't move to los angeles. governor brian sandoval recently approved the plan to build the nearly two billion dollar stadium here. of which, 750- million will come from public funding by a higher hotel room tax. the move still needs at least 24 n-f-l owners to approve it. a vote could happen in january. unlv's runnin' rebels are about ready to hit the court. check out the program's new video! why did we sweat, bleed, dig down..deep. why do we drive ..why? for you for vegas (fade to black)
