us. police have one man in custody tonight... after responding to a call about an unresponsive 7- year-old at the siegel suites. fox5's kathleen jacob is live at the scene after talking to police. kathleen? faith,,, this is still an active crime scene. you can see the back half of this parking lot is completely taped off and police are still investigating what led to this horrible traumatic death. they say 7 people room here. the mother of the child and her three kids... plus another couple and their two kids. the man that is a part of that other couple is the one police think is responsible. these are some of the most difficult investigations that any of us have to deal with, even from the most experienced detectives. it's very sad that we are investigating this as a child abuse death. police got the call around 3 pm from the fire department. a 7-year-old child... unresponsive... the signs point to abuse. the initial reports were that it was trauma to the body of the child, so it's not a

child had marks indicating that he may have been bound or tied up tightly. we don't really know what happened inside the apartment... there were four other children in there and two adults. those two adults were the child's mother and a man she was living with. that man is the one police think is responsible for the death. c-p-s is taking custody of the other four children as the investigation continues. as for mom's role in this tragic incident? i'm not ruling her out right now just because she has a there too, if she was present. like i said... those four other children are in the care of cps... and they're investigating their history to find out if they were also possibly abused or had any involvement with the abuse, police tell us the oldest of those children is just 8 years old. reporting live...kathleen jacob..fox5news... local. las vegas. such a sad story... of course we'll keep you updated as we learn more. a house party turns deadly--- after an overnight shooting in the

"i woke up because my room is right here so they were worried about me so i woke up and i heard my mom crying and calling 911 cause every body else was screaming outside" when police got to the scene... they found a man who been shot several times and died. police tell us it all started... when a fight broke out at a house party here. "there was a fight in the back yard there was a large party going on the fight spilled out into the street and there was a shooting, a man got shot in the driveway" after the shooting... officers say the suspect left in a vehicle. he's still on the run. police are

the new orleans district attorney-- shows a man going on a rampage through a terminal at new orleans airport. authorities say richard white sprayed several people with wasp spray and was swinging a machete. it happened in march of 20-15. white tries to go through the pre- clearance lane... before two t-s-a agents stop him. he then sprays the agents before pulling out the machete. he was shot by police and died the next day. a mississippi veteran says she was humiliated-- when american airlines would not allow her to board a plane with her service dog. point to child abuse as the cause. fox5's kathleen jacob is live at the siegel suites off boulder highway... where police responded to the call. kathleen... what do we know so far? faith.. we know the mother of the child was living in one of these rooms with another couple and 5 children. the man that was a part of that other couple is the one police think is responsible. the fire department initially responded to a call about a medical emergency... but once they found the boy unresponsive and noticed signs that this could be an abuse case they called police. police say the boy had trauma to the body and there were also signs that he may have been bound or tied up tightly. he was taken to sunrise hospital where he was pronounced dead not even thirty minutes after he got there. " these are some of the most difficult investigations

the toxicology report... in the death of miami marlins pitcher jose fernandez. the attorney spoke after the report said fernandez had cocaine and alcohol in his system before he died. the star pitcher and two of his friends were killed in a private boat crash near miami beach last month. but regardless of the report... the attorney says fernandez will be remembered... for the difference he made in many people's lives. (ralph fernandez, jose fernandez's family attorney): "nothing that surfaces after today in any way will taint what he did and the lives he touched of so many people. when you take a 24-year-old young man like this, anything can happen when you are on top of the world." investigators are not sure yet who was steering the boat that was owned by fernandez. officials are still conducting a homicide investigation.
