as president. don't expect donald trump to ease into his new job as president. (donald trump) "it's going to be a very busy first day." day one, president-elect trump plans to take action on everything from isis to immigration. (donald trump) "on day one, i'm going to begin swiftly removing criminal illegal immigrants from this country" trump vowing to start the process of getting rid of what he called gangs of thugs within one hour of taking office. (donaltr "the first piece of paper that i'm going to sign is we're gonna get rid of these people. we are gonna get rid of them day one. we start day one." along with that, mister trump also plans to start work on the wall at the southern border, to keep illegal immigrants out. (donald trump) "i am going to ask congress to send me a bill to repeal and replace, finally, obamacare. it's a disaster. under senate rules, that bill can be passed with 51 votes. 51! meaning a republican congress and a republican president can save americans from this disaster in a single afternoon." on the first day of the trump administration, say goodbye to some gun-free zones too. (donald trump) "i will get rid of gun-free zones on schools, and - you have to - and on military bases. my first day, it gets signed, okay? my first day. there's no more gun-free zones." maybe not on his first day but trump will also have to make a supreme court nomination to fill justice antonin scalia's seat.

sex offenders... among our students. we want to warn you... the content in this story may not be suitible for younger viewers. it has to do with sex offenders... but more specifically with children who commit sex crimes. these kids walk the halls with your children... and are monitored cl fox5s kathleen jacob delved into this story to find out everything you need to know. i went into this story wanting to know how many juvenile sex offenders are in clark county... and how theyre monitored...and i got that answer... but along the way... i talked to so many people and heard so many different stories... including one man who was arrested at age 17 for sex crimes dating back to when he was 11.he's been through treatment... and now.. he's learning how to live life with the label "sex offender." we've blurred his

story to protect his victims. b: did you touch my daughter? and at that point my whole world exploded because it was like "wow, i did that." blake... we'll call him in this story...remember's the night he was arrested like it was yesterday. at age 17, i was facing 440 years to 440 life sentences in prison. a girl he was babysitting came forward... after blake touched her. this is something i've never told anybody. when i get arrested for that, that same night i went and i was completely honest to random strangers, but i lied and tried to hide, i guess it was shame or you know just, it's horrible, i did something so horrible for such a long time and then i couldn't even tell the people that i loved. that complete honesty was him telling detectives about every single time he touched the girl... and another... his little step sister. i was introduced to his daughter, beverly, who was 4 at the time and i was 11 and it happened immediately. john pacult is a licensed clinical social worker.. and was appointed to do a psycho sexual evaluation on blake immediately after his arrest.
10:16 pm
want to consider them a sex offender. that's not a sex offender. that's a child that's been exposed to knowledge or information that they don't know how to process or deal with and then they're acting on it. and like all too many of these kids... that's exactly what blake was doing. she would take us up there and do things with us, you know what i mean? as a kid you don't really see that as wrong, especially as a male. he's talking about a 17-year-old neighborhood girl that would take him and other boys up molest them when they were just 7. i have been an offender, i have offended, and i've never blamed it on me being abused as a reason why i've offended. never once. i'll never do that. in clark county... there are currently 275 kids that are being monitored for sex crimes. brett allen is a probation manager with the juvenile justice department... and says making sure these kids are on the right track is a high priority. ba: we take sex offender
10:17 pm
we take all cases, but we wanna make sure they're getting meaningful treatment with the adequate level of supervision to their risk. three teams of probation officers keep track of these kids from 7am to 10pm daily. this includes random in person checks at school and home.. and phone calls to make sure they're following the rules. ba: they supervise them at school, at home, employment, visit treatment centers. probation officers also notify the superintendent when a student has been arrested for a sexual offense... and ccsd's education service division lets the specific school's administration know. if the student's ct that same school, the student offender is moved to another school. jp: this isn't going to be very popular to say but most don't reoffend.. and that's juvenile or adults. in fact... studies show the re- offending rate for juvenile sex offenders is just 3.5 percent... that's less than any other crime.. jp: we're dealing with kids as young as 8,9,10,11,12. just think about, developmentally, where that child is. but still the consequences can stick for a

the internet. i have no skeletons. jp: these are kids just like your kids, they've made some poor choices, they're getting help, they're being supervised, they're in treatment, and most of these kids are gonna turn out just fine. b: i've completed treatment, i'm in family reunification, i'm doing a fox5 news interview that i never thought in a million years i'd be doing. b: right now, i feel like i am a productive member of society, i have done everything i needed to do, i've fulfilled my debt to society, the next step for blake is actually reuniting with his step sister after all these years. a sex offender is not allowed to contact any of their victims... reunification has been granted by a court... and that's the process he's in right now. the first step is getting evaluated... and blake actually had his evaluation today. as for his step sister... she's been through treatment as well and we're told is ready... and very excited to meet her brother again after all of these years. blake also tells us the most important message he wants to get out is awareness. if you notice something that isn't right.. or you're experiencing something that

protesters that were here said they were going to take to social media try to will be legal to possess and use marijuana recreationally in nevada... but lawyers say it may be a while before you are able to legally buy it in nevada. fox5's eric hilt tells us what comes next in the process to legalize pot. "obviously the majority of nevada are very excited about the opportunity" that opportunity -- to smoke, tax and sell marijuana. but there are still questions about how question two will be put into place. "at this point its still business as usual, we're waiting to hear from the state and then we'll proceed as soon as we get direction from them." the first direction for nevadans is that starting in january people over 21 can legally have marijuana... but you won't be able to buy or sell recreational pot until after the state sets up its regulations. "they'll be able to use it starting january first, but where are they going to buy it...and those are the rules and regulations

between january 1 2017 and january 1 2018, how they buy it, how its produced, how its distributed" some of those regulations are already hammered out... you can't smoke in public, you can't drive under the influence and if your apartment or work has rules against smoking or drugs -- those still apply. but lawyers say there's still a lot more that has to bet set on the selling side. "every specific is going to be addresses, all the t's crossed, the i's dotted, they have to run it through the whole process from seed to sale essentially" those rules have to be set before january 1st 2018....and after they're set, apply for licesnses to sell recreational pot...another process that he says will take some time. "it would probably be another six months to twelve months until you can start buying cannibis at a dispensary after january 2018" but even though it could be months away -- dispensaries say they're looking forward to the new industry. "we are ready to move full steam ahead" it will probably be another six months to twelve months nevada isn't the state to pass
