an armed man shot and killed a would-be robber at a north las vegas convenience store this morning. "it's really kind of tricky. we obviously woul to call police and allow us to handle that, not put themselves in danger." according to officer ann cavaricci, of north las vegas police, the robber walked into the store and attempted to holdup the clerk. a person who was servicing the slot area of the store fired at the robber. the robber left the store but collapsed outside. he was taken to umc where he died. a man we talked to says the same robber held up other businesses

one turkey doesn't have to worry about winding up on anyone's table this thanksgiving. "catholic charities of southern nevada" has granted "mr. butters" a pardon and another chance at life. the bird was found in a metro's officer's backyard. the officer turned him over to the "gilcrease nature sanctuary" so he could be nursed back to health. catholic charities has a lot of plans this holiday. the next good deed on their list is collecting frozen turkeys and non- parishable items for las vegas families. "we want to help as many people as we can that are struggling with food and security so we hope to be able to pass out four thousand turkeys this month with all the fixings so people that we serve can have a great thanksgiving meal at home with their families. we'll also provide a wonderful thanksgiving dinner on thanksgiving day for anyone that's homeless or hungry." this is the valley's

getting the flu may depend on the year you were born. sounds strange... but a study shows... it all comes down to which strain you were exposed to as a baby. researchers found were exposed to a certain flu strain, you could be protected long- term against flu related viruses... reducing your chance of getting sick by up to 75 percent. until now it was thought your history of flu exposure offered little to no protection against new flu viruses. she's barely old enough to drink... yet a florida woman will have a hand in making new state laws. the 21-year-old college senior is one of the newest members of florida's house of representatives. erik waxler reports.
