happened with details on the crime. police would rather you give to those services and shelters because giving to people on the street because those donations can cause conflicts and because officers say they want to see people using the shelters or those existing services "we have no leads, no suspects and we have no information as to how this murder occured" now police are asking for your help - before the case goes cold. "i've been in this community for 18 years and i've learned that in this community nothing is impossible with the community rallies behind events like this and take crimes like this personally." crimes that aren't uncommon in this part of downtown. "this is the second homicide involving a homeless person in this area since october 2 that's too too many" police say part of the problem -- the

homeless people choosing to be on the street instead of in shelters... and with the holiday season coming up - officers say people should not give food clothes or donations directly to people on the sidewalks. the store. business owners in the area say they knew the "victim" for all the wrong reasons. lawyers hope this doesn't give any other gun owners any ideas. "he always come to rob this 7-eleven like previous times. he was robbing the taco bell and a bunch of other shops in this area and finally they got him. i don't think anyone should be encouraged to go shoot someone because this person may get off scot free" police haven't arrested the shooter... but the case is still under investigation they say he has been cooperative with officers. let's check in with fox five's meteorlogist sam argier with a look at the forecast. after a high temperature of 80 degrees in las vegas thursday, the evening will feature temperatures in the 70s and 60s.

credit card skimming is expected to be a big problem this holiday season. the f-b-i says hackers are getting smarter. "there's so many new ways to comprimise these systems that we use day in and day out for all our financial transactions and that's really what we're up against is you are ultimatly in control of your finances." the agents held a meeting to warn consumers and businesses to be alert while shopping. make sure you're checking statements daily and note any purchases that you didn't make. if see anything suspicious... call your bank. they say even cards with chip readers can be victims of skimming. a turkey has been granted mercy this thanksgiving. "mr. butters" has been given a pardon-- thanks to "catholic charities of southern nevada" a metro officer found the turkey in his backyard nearly six months ago. it's c-c-s-n's way to kick off their season of giving. soon-- they will be starting their 30-th annual

hoping to collect more than four thousand frozen turkeys and non- perishables to help families all over the valley. "the people that donate to us, people that will serve on thanksgiving day. they'll be provided a meal that they will be sit and served. it's not standing in a buffet line for a change, it's being served. the dignity and compassion of that is very powerful and the gift of mercy and compassion is what thanksgiving is all about." "mr. butters" was nursed back to health at the "gilcrease nature sanctuary" which will also now be his new home. new at six tonight... a local veteran receives a much- needed gift ahead of veteran's day. today -- he was given the keys to a brand-new car. the newly- refurbished vehicle was donated by progressive's "keys to progess". they say nearly half of veterans live in areas where affordable transportation is limited... especially when they need medical care or want to attend employment

they've given away hundreds of cars across the country to military families and organizations. and students were part of a special performance to honor our veterans. it took place at brinley middle school. the eighth graders gave a different performance each class period... and have been practing all week for the special day. their presentations were created by members of the las vegas honor guard... including a flag folding ceremony.
