"we're gonna evolve from protests. but the protests will continue because the protest is what gives us leverage to transform our city." a second night of unrest across the country... as protesters take to the streets. they're upset over the results of donald trump being elected president. thousands have been protesting in several cities throughout the nation. this is the scene in portland, oregon. many chanting "not my president" and "pay your taxes". some damaging car windshields... with bats and rocks. thanks for joining

oclock news... im christine maddella. i'm john huck. last night in las vegas people marched to the trump hotel... but tonight unlike many cities our streets remain peaceful. fox 5s cyndi lundeberg joins us now in studio with a look at protests erupting across the nation... cyndi there are protests in new york ... d-c ... baltimore ... philly ... chicago ... minneapolis ... milwaukee ... portland ... oakland .. los angeles... and others... thousands of people are marching through their cities... upset and defeated over donald trump winning the election. lets start off in portland oregon... there are reports of injuries... car windows being smashed and drivers being attacked.... portland police say because of extensive criminal and dangerous behavior... this protest is now considered a riot.... and say rioting is a felony. there are reportedly thousands of

protesters there are carrying bats and getting increasingly aggressive. the oregon state police were called in. besides broken windows... cars could be seen with spray paint... parts of two major interstates had to be closed because of the protests.... there were also reports of people getting out of their cars and attacking the protesters as well. on social meida some of the protesters were claiming they werent the ones breaking the law and vandalising... they said it was a different group of people not associated with them. portland police asked the peaceful protestors to go to a certain area so they could arrest the people breaking the law. lets take you to baltimore right now... police say 600 people marched through the downtown harbor area.. bllocking trump... students from ucla usc and san diego state all staged walk outs. were told thousands of high students also marched in protest of the president elect. in los angeles 28 people have been arrested... after

today they took over the 10 freeway near cal state los angeles. los angeles' mayor eric garcetti told reporters hes pleased with the way people there are expressing their frustrations. "let me say in no uncertain terms there is no place for destruction of property for dangreous stopping of traffic in a city wher epeple are peacfully protesting youre getting in the way of the message of unity and a moment where they can express their frustration " in new york.... people made their voices heard... around eighthousand people took their message from union square to right in front of trump tower... chanting things like not my president...and black lives matter. 65 people were arrested... n-y-p-d were also looking for protestors

cocktails in their backapcks according to police. heres a look at steattle now... where several hundred people marched to oppose president elect donald trump.... a city council member warned this was only the begining and promised an even larger protest for inaguration day... were told the protest there was peaceful... tonights protests were smaller in size when compared to alst night. mainly younger adults and teenagers make up most of the crowds. donald trump also did respond to the protests saying... he says in part "professional protesters incided by the media are protesting. very unfair!" president elect trumps tweet comes after he spent the day at the white house meeting with president obama.. and house speaker paul ryan. the tweet been retweeted more than 30-thousand times. president-elect donald trump and president barack obama came face to face in the oval office -- for the

first lady michelle obama and soon to be first lady melania trump met for the time as well. michelle obama continued a white house tradition by hosting melania trump for tea. a man attempts to rob a 7/11 and is shot by another person in the store... tonight we're learning the robber was on a crime spree, fox5s miguel martinez valle spoke to businesses that say the same man had robbed others before... that's right som of the local shop owners say the man shot and killed while attempting to rob this 7/11 had successfully robbed other businesses in the last month. for business owners near cheyenne and civic center, the 7/11 shooting hopefully marked

they say they dont wish death on anyone, but theyre hoping things will be a little safer here on out. salvador hernandez, "he's just been hitting every store i don't know if his plan is to go back to california after he hit them but not no more" the person who shot the robber wasn't an employee of 7- eleven but he might've been one of the technicians attending one of the machines inside the store from what people tell us no charges have been filed against him at this point. mmv ffn ll a homeless man is killed after being shot in downtown las vegas. it happened this morning near las vegas boulevard and owens. police say the man was lying against a fence when he was shot. he later died at u-m-c. police say this is the second homicide with a homeless victim in this area... within the last month. police say they have no leads in this case. they're asking for your help... before the case gets cold. fox5's kevin bolinger is at sam boyd stadium with a preview of the football game. kevin on cam: the rebels are coming off a bye week and have had time to rest up and heal up. unlv is making another change at starting quarterback. kurt palandech gets the nod as signal caller and johnny stanton is available if needed as he continues his recovery from a knee injury. the rebels may need everybody against a tough wyoming team. music/nats wyoming has been the surprise team in the mountain west this season. the cowboys are 7-2 and 5-0 in the conference including a big win over boise that has put them in the driver's seat of the mountain division. brian hill/wyoming running back: we're stressing take it one day at a time, one day at a time. win that day. so far

jon says: i've been photographing and working on my contemporary artwork for ten years. and i didn;t show anybody my work. i was.. i kinda felt like i wasn;t ready, like i wasn't good enough. showing his decade of photograhpy for the first time carmichael revealed to "more" that the exhibit wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the urging of caesars elton john. jon says: he said, 'why haven't you showed the world your work yet? why am i the first one seeing this?' those questions from the music icon came at a crucial time for the local artist. jon says: i had to sell everything i owned to afford these first ten prints. the day after my prints came in i had a meeting with elton john because he heard about them through a miraculous grapevine. he bought 11 prints! an incredible boost from a man who is a world- class collector of photography. elton john returns to the colosseum at caesars palace on december 28-th... just in time to ring
