veteran mark lechner is feeling his age "you do get a little better when you're having pain" pain or from the decades old injury from training on base during the korean war "i was asked to help out how to teach the troops with leaving to go to vietnam or to go to korea how to defend himself probably and in that mood when i got hurt" to help, mark got a veterans day surprise... the newly formed las vegas chapter of the korean war veterans association gave mark a wheelchair wheelchair to help with his pain "and then we heard that we were that i was chosen that then we became the leader of the type of toast campaign i think it makes me love me love life again more the idea that i can now

back into the 50s. a system moving into the pacific northwest will bring increasing cloud cover across southern nevada on saturday. we won't see any rain, and temperatures will remain on the mild side with high temperatures in the mid to low 70s. sunday will bring more sunshine with highs in the mid to upper 70s. monday and tuesday will stay warm and mostly sunny with upper 70s. a cold front moving in wednesday will bring gusty wind with temperatures that left one person dead this morning could have been caused by one of the drivers having a medical episode.. police say a driver crossed the north lanes of valley view near sahara this morning - and slammed head-on hitting another vehice.

responders found one driver unconscious and had to break a window to get him out. he later died at the hospital. the water district had a busy morning... after a water main broke. this happened on paradise between d-i and convention center. crews had to shut some lanes down as they worked to solve this problem. you can see the big mess left behind. it took until around 4:30 this afternoon to fix. the 50th annual rock and roll marathon in las vegas is this weekend. and 45-thousan people are looking forward to the 26-point- two mile run up and down the strip. fox5's abby theodros joins us live from the las vegas convention center after talking with runners and event organizers... who say they've been preparing for more than a year. thousands of runners from every state and 83 foreign countries... all ready to rock and roll strip only shut down twice a year nye and this race. starr gantz, lexington ky: to be out in the dark

everything from a whole new angle. runners out in full force - ready for this weekends rock and roll festival. javier fernandez: from costa rica, yeah. im excited to be here. its my second time in vegas. 45 thousand people - from 83 different countries. javier fernandez: youre going to share the fun with a lot of runners. we are a community. a lot of runners go everywhere to share the fun running. the joy of running. a little more than 26 miles. shutting down the las vegas strip. dan cruz: the race mandalay bay, the runners go to the welcome to las vegas sign, norht bound all the way up the strip, to downotwn right past the fremont street experience, right back down the southbound lanes of the strip and then finish at the mirage volcano. dan cruz is the marthon's organizer - and says it takes an entire year to prep for the big day. dan cruz, event organizer: the strip only shuts down twice a year. once on new years eve. once for the marathon. so any undertaking like that..is going to be an all hands on deck situation. we

with all the agencies to plan and map out what is a logistically complicated event. and drivers not to worry - rock and roll is partnering with the traffic app waze dc: when someone goes onto waze like they would map quest or google maps the road closure information is already pre programmed and that way it will navigate you around of the race course versus tlling you right away and not have that information. they're also sending out 45 thousand push notifications for waze users. snoop dogg to perform during the event so itll be a good time the 5-k race starts tomorrow night at 6..

"we house a veteran for 20 dollars a night. somebody wants to bring in a case of water, it's under 5 bucks. that helps a lot of people stay hydrated especially during the summer. so we stock up now and whether they

safe and sound today... after they were found stuck inside a florida storm drain. the pair shut down a busy street in orange county, florida. one of the birds managed to fly away... but the second eagle fell deeper into the drain. he was rescued by wildlife experts... and doing fine. a wildlife center says it takes about
