closed captioning will resume shortly "what we are going to do is get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, we have a lot of these people, probably 2 million, it could even be 3 million, we're getting them out of our country or we're going to incarcerate, but we're getting them out of our country, they're here illigally. " deporting 2 soon as he's innaugarated. it's a bold plan donald trump announced over the weekend... and it has many people asking questions. how do you implement this? is this realistic? is this what the american people are ready for and want to see? fox5's kathleen jacob joins us live from our local immigration office after talking to an immigration law expert along with trump supporters... kathleen... what have we learned? john, christine... we learned that technically.. there is a way to do it.... but it

changes...and the reality of these changes actually taking effect... well... that's not so clear. i spoke with a local immigration law professor... and here are some of the things he said we'd see if trump really wants to reach the 2-3 million number. " you need more ice police, you would need more immigration judges in courtrooms which are already horribly back logged. you would probably need more detention centers given what he has talked about, there mere machinery of it would be massive, we would be building a very very large police infrastructure unlike almost anything else we see in our society. " i also asked him how he thinks trump came to that 2-3 million number of illigal immigrants with a criminal history in the us... his answer? what kind of criminal history are we looking at? the migration policy institute estimates that only around 820 thousand undocumented immigrants have criminal records...so are we looking at misdemeanors or traffic tickets

the policy and plan is just still pretty unclear... and that's what trump supporters i talked to today also thought. " i don't see how he can do it, i just don't see any way of getting rid of all those people out of this country, but i do think that they should be made to be citizens and pay taxes like all the other citizens who came from other countries too. " another man i talked to agreed with her saying he didn't think it was very realistic... but he thinks trump should start by securing the border and making it harder to get into the country in the first place. that's actually been echoed by speaker of the house paul ryan who says... the first step is securing the border... not upping the force that would deport people. coming up tonight at 6... we'll go deeper into the illigal immigration numbers... specifically in nevada... and what it would look like here in las vegas if deportation was enforced to the extent that donald trump is saying. reporting live...kathleen jacob...fox5 news...
