live from las vegas it's time for fox5 news at 11. a lot of promises are being made by president elect donald trump. especially about immigration. tonight we're hearing from local immigration lawyers who say their phones are ringing off the hook. a woman is caught stealing packages right off a person's doorstep. the homeowner's message to his neighbors to stop the crimes from happening in their community. a woman is dead after being hit by a truck near the strip. it brings the number of deaths on valley roadways....to one hundred. this is fox5 news at 11. local las vegas. immigration was a huge talking point during president- elect donald trump's campaign. i'm christine maddela. i'm john huck. trumps campaign promises to "build a wall" and deport undocumented immigrants has

immigration law offices across the nation. fox5's miguel martinez valle spoke to lawyers who say their phones have been ringing off the hook, and a family who says trumps win has them afraid for the future thats right, while trump has focused his attention in the last few days towards deporting last few days towards deporting undocumented criminals, the words he spoke during the campaign cycle have millions of other undocumented people worried... so they're calling lawyers to get some answers, answers they dot " they hear what they hear out of president trump and they are concerned so they are calling with the panic and i can understand that" in the days since donald trumps election, immigration law offices across the country have been flooded with phone calls . " they're nervous, because they don't know if the program will continue, so they're asking 'when my card expires next year or perhaps in 2018 will i be able to renew that

honest answer is we don't know" calls from immigrants and their families, families like the zapata's, who are fearful for their future despite their temporary legal status... in nevada... there are an estimated 210 thousand undocumented workers...7.6 percent of our population... the highest percentage in the country. a woman is dead after being hit by a truck... just off the strip. police say the woman was hit on convention center near paradise. she was not in a marked crosswalk at the time... she was taken to the hospital where she died. police say the driver was not impaired... and cooperated with them. it marks the one hundred-th traffic death in metro's jurisdiction. police are looking for two men they say robbed six valley businesses in the last week. take a look at these surveillence pictures here. police say the men robbeed three different convenience stores on the east side of town. all three of those robberies happened on november eighth. the same suspects robbed three more convenience stories a few days later-- this time-- on the south side of town. police are also lookiing for a large tan g-m s-u-v that was used as a get-away car. anyone with information can leave an anonymous tip with crimestoppers. that number is

the holidays are not far off... and there might also be a real life grinch.. lurking and waiting to steal your packages! just recently .. a camera caught a woman stealing a package from a henderson home ... in broad daylight. now .. some on social media say it may not have been the first time this person has struck. fox5s faith tanner is live with more. it's a brazen crime... that's expected to only get worse as we get closer to the holidays. and now some neighbors are woin to prevent strangers from stealing their packages. a thief caught on home surveillance cameras quickly swiping a package off of this doorstep you feel violated because whether it was a dollar package or a thousand dollar package nobody has the right to just take something that's yours" the homeowners gary and kathy rosenfeld were away from their home.. they say this happened last

near eastern and st rose. gary got an alert that a delivery was made... but couldn't find the package. he and his wife were stunned when they watched the video. a female got out of the car walked up from the car up the steps picked the package up and put it in her bag and left the rosenfelds called polce.... and shared their story on the next door app. someone on there... responded by posting a video of the same thing happening to her.. and wrote the thief looks very familiar. judge for yourself -- here they are .. side by side. it's not a one time thing she's been out there doing it she'll probably continue to do it until she gets caught and eventually they all get caught" gary says they've learned a lesson... to be even more cautious about deliveries. he's also hoping neighbors will watch out for each other. amazon refunded the family's money for the package that was stolen... you can also help prevent your packages from being stolen by having them delivered to your workplace.... or asking the shipping company to hold them at a local pick up facility. a del sol high school monitor and coach took the student he is accused of sexually assaulting out of class and to hishome... that's according to the arrest report for ati poni. police say poni took a girl from the school without her parent's permission to his home. that is where police say he sexually assaulted the teenager against her will. the girl eventually told her parents about the abuse. the clark county school district released the following

uncommon for school monitors to escort students out of class at the request of school administrators, counselors or parents. teachers do not ask for specific details regarding the requests, out of respect for students who may be dealing with personal matters the clark county school district is looking for some feedback. a new survey is now avaiable for parents students and staff. c-c-s-d's superintendent says it's a way parents can tell them what they think about their child's school and the district. the survey questions will be used to improve schools and increase parent engagement. parents will need number to fill out the survey. we have the link to that survey on our website fox5 vegas dot com. a family is trying to raise money for funeral costs... after two men were killed by a suspected drunk driver. robert roberts and jermaine asher died saturday night near rainbow and smoke ranch. the family of the brothers tell fox5 the boys were out getting their mother a birthday gift. police say the two victims were struck by a suspected drunk driver... who was going over the

at the scene. you can find the family's go-fund- me page on our website fox five vegas dot com. we're learning more about a veteran north las vegas fire captain-- who lost his life in the line of duty last month. the clark county coroner is releasing the autopsy results for 43-year-old yaphet miller. the medical exam revealed that miller had heart diseases and died from a lack of oxygen. the fire department says miller got sick after a september blaze near rancho and washington avenue. miller died october sixth in the hospit the clark county fire department is investigating a deadly fire in laughlin. the fire department says the fire happened at an apartment on needles highway shortly before 6 tonight. when fire crews arrived they found smoke pouring from a second floor apartment.. that's where they found a person's body. no word tonight on who the person is .. or what caused the fire. the supermoon is high in the sky right now let's check in with fox five's chief meteorlogist ted pretty. who's out

plenty of sunshine with high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s around las vegas for your monday. skies will stay clear with 60s this evening if you're going to be out viewing the supermoon; the full moon will appear 14% larger and 30% brighter this evening. overnight low temperatures drop into the 50s. temperatures stay mild tuesday with highs in the upper 70s. you will notice some high clouds drifting into the area during the afternoon; that is a sign of some cooler and windier changes ahead. strong southerly winds will pick up across the valley on wednesday with clouds passing through. temperatures remain in the mid to low 70s. a cold front passing through the area will bring in much colder air for thursday and friday. highs will be in the low 60s and upper 50s with morning low temperatures on friday dropping into the upper 30s. we'll keep highs in the 60s this weekend with se

wayne newton's neighbors say they're fed up with roaming pests in the neighborhood. those who live near casa de shenandoah... say big colorful peacocks are roaming the neighborhood. they say they're squawking and scratching family cars.... and leaving droppings... that caused a family dog to get sick. they say the birds around the 40- acre ranch... are also causing traffic hazards. newton doesn't actually live at casa de shenandoah-- it's used as a tourist museum about his life and career. the county has since gotton involved and released a statement saying... the casa de shenandoah property has permission to have 25 peafowls... but the birds have to be housed in an enclosed structure. there are a number of peafowls running stray in the neighborhood and the county instructed the two sides to work together on a resolution.

pahrump is accused of endangering her daughter... after letting exotic animals roam around their home in texas. trisha meyer -- who recently moved to the houston area -- was arrested last week after returning to nevada. police say they started a theft investigation a few months ago... after meyer tried to sell an exotic kitten for three- thousand dollars. she took the money -- without delivering the cat. officers found tigers... a skunk... a cougar... and fox at meyer's home. police say her daughter was also petting some of the a "having wildlife inside your home or even in your yard...is dangerous." "wildlife can post a threat to anyone inside the house, especially if it isn't restrained." officials say meyer did have tiger permits. the other animals were taken to a shelter. meyer is in custody in nye county -- on a two-thousand dollar bail. she's charged with child endangerment. the first-ever native american honor flight returned home to

division of emergency money management helped out with the simulation. crews from the different towns had to coordinate all their resources to make sure everyone made it out safely. the blue man group gets a special gift from the city of las vegas today-- to celebrate the group's 25-th anniversary. commissioner steve sisolak presented the group with a key to the las vegas strip. he also officially declared november 17-th as "blue man group day." 20-16 has been a busy year for the blue men. they released a new studio album...went on a world tour....and published their first book! you can catch their show any night of the week at the luxor hotel and casino.

the public will now have easier access to crime data in henderson. the henderson police department is first agency in the state to use police data initiatives. the open crime data portal was launched last month. there's data on officer's use of force.... officer involved shootings and traffic stops. the database covers nearly one hundred and thirty jurisdictions across the country. henderson police say it's important to give the public access to this information. cops around the valley are cracking down on seat belt violations. on friday.. north las vegas police will be on the lookout for
