the gun wasn't loaded, there was no ammunition with the gun and the student didn't take it out of its bag at the school. still some parents told us it's concerning... but one parent said her worry is that she found out about the incident hours after it happened and from her son -- not the school district. isabella gonzalez disappeared one year ago today from our valley. and police are hoping someone will come forward with information. this is isabella.... this is who we're looking for. "the national center for missing and exploited children" says isabella may still be here in las vegas. she is five feet, four inches, and weighs 150 pounds. if you know where she is, call metro police at the number there on your screen. coming up at ten and 11... we will ha on this case... and what isabella's mother says about her missing daughter. swat officers became involved in a standoff situation... after a woman refused to leave her apartment. metro says the 38-year-old woman fired a gun several times at her apartment complex near maryland parkway and hacienda. this happened around six-30 last night. when police came to the apartment, she would not come out. police evacuated nearby units and negotiated with the woman. she eventually surrendered around two this morning.

everyone gets home safely for the holidays. so there will be more of them on the road, checking for seatbelts. this "click it or ticket" enforcement goes through december 10th. other area police officers will join the effort. saturation patrols will stop cars for traffic violations and check for seat belt use. remember, it is the law to wear a seatbelt here in nevada. wearing a belt reduces the risk of a fatal injury by up to 50 percent for people in the front seat, and 75 percent for people in the back seat. if you get a parking ticket now through november 30th in las vegas... you may be able to pay for it in toy donations! the las vegas city council approved a "toys for tickets" program. the city is teaming up with safe nest to collect toys for families who are spending this christmas at the shelter. any driver who gets a non-public safety parking ticket can bring an unwrapped toy or toys to the city of las vegas parking services office. the gifts must be of equal or greater value than the ticket fine.

nine clark county schools have been recommended for the controversial new achievement school district. it would pair underperforming schools with charter operators by next year... possibly changing curriculum and staff. fox5's kathleen jacob joins us live from cambeiro elementary school after talking to parents and the eduction association. kathleen? yeah guys this is one of the schools that could become a part of this program by next year. the nine schools were chosen based off of s bach scores. all of them scored in the bottom 5 percent. 5 middle and 4 5 middle and 4 5 middle and 4 elementary schools made the list. they're craig elementary, fitzgerald elementary, kelly elementary, the middle schools are brinley, jerome mack middle, orr middle,

there are still more steps in the process.... they still have to narrow it down from here...but still...just the idea that these schools could be taken over by charter schools has caused a lot of debate. we've seen push back and protests from parents, students, and teachers for the past few weeks saying they don't want the change to happen. but...some parents are optimistic. the minnesota police officer who killed a man during a traffic stop in july, has now been charged with manslaughter. the news comes as a major relief to the victim's family... who have been demanding justice since this happened. "we have gotten to this point, and it is neccessary to understand that we want peace. we don't want any protests to get outragious, and i support any protests, it is a manner to have things done. " you may remember this graphic facebook live video from when the shooting happened. 32-year-old philando castille was pulled over for a broken tail light. his fiancee says officer jeronimo yanez shot castille as he reached for his wallet. the couple's young child was in the back seat of the car. castille had a license to carry a gun. yanez will make his first court appearance on friday.

featured in netflix's hit documentary "making a murderer" will be released from prison. brendan dassey was convicted as a teenager, of helping his uncle steven avery kill a woman. he has been in jail since 2007... and will now be a free man for the first time as an adult. madeline anderson has details on what will happen during this transition.
