and... take a look at what drivers are dealing with in los angeles. this is what it looked like earlier in the day... as drivers hit the road for thanksgiving. there were backups on the 4- oh-5... and one-oh- one freeways. las vegas is a top destination this thanksgiving.. i'm christine maddela. i'm john huck. hundreds of thousands of people are flying and driving into our ty and many locals are packing up and heading out for the holiday. fox5's faith tanner joins us now from mccaran international airport with more on how things are looking for travelers. 737-thousand passengers are expected to come through mccarran airport during the thanksgiving travel period. that's up 7 percent from last year. and it's not just the airport that's seeing more travelers- so are the roads. nats: suitcase

mccarran airport- as travelers make their way to sin city. sot : "glad to be here!" more than 300- thousand people will celebrate thanksgiving in vegas. it's the number one travel destination this holiday weekend. with people coming from all over. sot : "i've always wanted to experience thanksgiving in the us and why not vegas. while many are traveling by plane- even more are hitting the road. nats: cars on highway-- we caught up with drivers in primm- where drivers are filling up and stretching their legs on their way to california sot : "there's a lot of traffic, haven't seen any accidents which is good, but yesterday i saw the 405 was terrible" butted to sot : "we hit maybe a tiny bit of traffic in vegas but for the most part we left late to try and skip california traffic" nhp says this is one of the busiest areas- is right here near the state border. sot : "in nevada we have 3 travel lanes, as soon as you get to california it goes down to 2, so with all that vehicle

"pretty much turkeys, salad, you know, the usual thanksgiving dinner." "last year i did it the day before and it's crazy so i told myself. i just got off from work. i said i'm going to swing and get the things i need today! it's got to be tonight." some grocery stores will be open tonight... but not all of them will be tomorrow. and one thanksgiving

with gusts up to 45 mph. friday remains mostly sunny with high temperatures holding in the low 60s. a pacific storm moving into the west coast will impact our area on saturday and sunday. look for increasing winds saturday evening with some more clouds moving in. the chance of scattered showers is in the sunday forecast with snow possible in the spring mountains. if you're heading up to mt. charleston or lee canyon sunday, whether you're cooking and having family over... or heading to someone else's for thanksgiving dinner... as wonderful as the holiday is... it can also be a stressful time for some. some are dreading tomorrow because a relative may bring up dinner table. several counselors say they've been booked the past few days... with people full of anxiety. set some rules at the beginning of dinner, everybody just say hey, we're here to enjoy each other. if you can't have a peaceful discussion or if it's gonna bring discourd in the family, just don't do it!" one of the things i say is take a minute, breathe. take a minute, be in the moment. besides setting rules...

check out this video! an e-cig explodes in a store employee's pocket. it happened this morning at "central cellars" in manhattan. you can see the man's pocket start sparking... then all of the sudden...the e-cigarette times. the employee was taken to the hospital. officials say he's recovering from burns to his hand and leg. his attorney says he'll have to have surgery for his burns. in more local news... the d-m-v office on sahara will permanently close next week... to move to another location next door. "we're just asking the public to help us out. use appointments if you have to come into an office. or use alternate services for the next few weeks to help us get

(rings) and she's hoping her ring dot com doorbell can help leach: i didnt to have 40 k views. and over 1500 shares. it was able to catch them and it was able to give them the 15 minutes of fame they wanted so badly. leach bought a "ring video doorbell" gadet in october. it streams live audio and video of a home's front doorstep directly to your smartphone leach: i talked to you through it. it comes to your phone as 'theres someone at your door.' leach tells me this wont ruin her christmas but she hopes these guys are caught before they strike again.

the las vegas rescue mission and volunteers from all around the valley are working to make sure the homeless have a good thanksgiving. the mission serves hundreds of thanksgiving meals to the people living on the streets every year. they're given blankets... socks... jackets... and gloves to help keep them warm during the season. 14- year old -- blaze trumble -- has been collecting winter clothes for the homeless since he was five years old. "just the people that you help out down here are just like really cool just to see their reactions and how thankful they are because some think it's just a blanket or a jacket but some people really think its one of the best things you can have down here." blake says the best way to celebrate his birthday -- is by
