foundation is waiving adoption fees for black friday! the waiver lasts all the way through cyber monday... and it could save you anywhere from 25 to 250 dollars. it's part of the zappos "home for the paw-lidayz" adoption special. zappos is reimbursing the shelter for those fees through it's "no more homeless pets network" partnership. there are more than 120 dogs and 24 cats that need new homes. macy's is admitting it has had online issues for shoppers looking for black friday deals. visitors reported macy's webpage noting "heavier traffic than normal". then they were given a countdown clock... letting them know when they could return to macy's main site. mobile users who tried to log in... were sent to a page claiming the macy's site was down for "routine maintenance". the retailer says it's looking into the glitch. macys was looking to black friday as a way to turn customers on to its online options... after closing dozens of stores this year.

police are investigating a deadly shooting near downtown. this happened at an apartment on eastern .. just north of fremont. police say someone shot a man who was in his 30's.. inside an apartment. but by the time police arrived .. a woman had dragged the victim outside. no word tonight on who the victim is or if police have arrested anybody. police do, however, say this area is known for having gang problems. it's been a tragic holiday weekend for a family in mohave county, arizona.. according to the sheriff's department .. was kiiled when she was thrown from the back of an a-t-v. deputies say the girl was the passenger... and a 12-year old girl was driving.. it happened around 3:30 wednesday afternoon... about 60 miles southeast of kingman. the young driver broke her arm ... the 11 year old died at the crash site. police say a woman hit by a train yesterday... is expected to be okay. it happened on owens avenue near the i-15 around 3-30. police say she was on the

for many families .. it's a tradition .. to get out today .. and fight the crowds for deals. caroline shively reports from the pentagon city mall -- in arlington, virginia on the black friday shopping rush. the international council of shopping centers predicts that 150.7 million americans plan to shop this weekend, lured in by black friday and small business saturday deals. rutherford says: "i'm a big black friday shopper, finding out the sales that are going on early, most of the time you make friends with someone to tell you. haha." the national federation of retailers reports that last year, more people shopped online than in stores over this holiday weekend... even ahead of cyber monday. mehta says: "any time that you can get out of waiting in line at the mall and going through that whole fever of parking, why wouldn't you want to with just two clicks buy you what need?" to pull shoppers away from cyber space and back to the mall, stores are offering deep price cuts this weekend. the wall street firm jefferies estimates walmart

returned at the cosmopilitan hotel today. it just opened up at the boulevard pool earlier tonight. it's the fifth year the pool has been transformed into the winter wonderland above the strip. to kick off the opening-- the rink is partnering with the "tao group cares charity." anyone who brings in a toy to donate will get one free skate rental. there are also food and drink specials offered at the rink and weekly movie nights. in national news tonight.. a ship that sank nearly 150 years ago has been found! two explorers discovery of "the black duck" -- off of lake ontario's new york shore today. the ship is 144 years old... and sank during a strong wind storm back in 18-72. the ship's captain.... his wife and a crew member were the only people on board. they all survived the wreck. "the black duck" was typically used on rivers or for short voyages. it's believed to be the only fully intact ship of its kind to exist in the

the man accused of killing nine people in a south carolina church last year will soon have his day in court. a federal judge has ruled dylann roof is competent to stand trial. police say he shot nine people to death at an african methodist episcopal church in charleston, south carolina back in june of 2015. the case was supposed to have already gone through jury selection... until the judge allowed roof to go through a competency evaluation. a psychiatrist examined him earlier this month.... and witnesses testified in a hearing this week. if convicted, he could face the death penalty. jury selection in the federal trial is scheduled to resume on monday. a u-s service member was killed by an i-e-d yesterday in syria. this is the first time a member of our military has been killed in syria since special forces were deployed there in 2015 to fight isis. the explosion was about 30 miles north of isis' self-declared capital. now u-s officials say an operation to take the city from isis will begin soon. nearly 300 troops

for-- this is from tiffany. my husband and i would like to thank the three gentlemen that helped us thanksgiving morning in the albertsons parking lot on buffalo & vegas. thank you to all three for trying to jump start our car & helped push the car to get it going. we truly are so gratful that there are still good people in this world that have a heart and help others . to the three gentlemen, if you are watching this, thank you so much again for helping my husband, daughter & myself. god bless you & your families . plus here's a nancy-- nv energy gets a lot of heat but, i have to give them a kudos for thanksgiving day and metro pd. everyone was on the job no matter what the day was. power went out at 7pm and they were on it. working 24-7 power was back on in 3 hours. no biggie! maybe that should happen every holiday. think about it!! and one last thank you -- thank you to the person who turned my iphone into customer service at target (stephanie and galleria) on black friday (thursday night around 10 pm)!

message of friendship on thanksgiving for a stranger and a couple in arizona. jamal hinton and wanda dench... are giving thanks for a new relationship. both were strangers a week ago -- but the power of a smart phone made them friends... when dench accidentally sent him a message about thanksgiving plans. it was supposed to go to someone else but... hinton got it and responded. they were so confused that they exchanges selfies... and then dench said, hey, just come over for thanksgiving anyway. hinton says "..i indeed it was not my grandma as we al know now and i sent one back so she could confirm that i'm not her grandson and i thought why not ask for a plate jokingly and she was very welcoming and let me in." now there are plans in the works for the families to eventually meet. in the meantime-- both say they have a lot to be grateful for, including each other. fox5 news at 11, your only local station here for you at both 10 and
