through damaged and destroyed buildings, while anxious residents return home. mos says "..we got in the basement, and after it all went by we came over here and the building was tore up" lindblom says: "..we've had a community member lose their residence but nobody got seriously hurt and nobody has lost any life so we got that to be thankful for." but, other communities weren't so lucky. there have been several confirmed deaths -- and, officials throughout the southeast are reporting multiple injuries. many others say they're not sure if they'll be able to recover from the damage. cantrell says "..we damages to some barns and different things, and like i say, trees and some 18-wheeler beds and things that were actually tilted over." meanwhile, further north in tennessee, crews are still battling the biggest wildfire to hit the state in a century. more than fourteen thousand people evacuated from the resort city of gatlinburg as hundreds of firefighters work to save homes and businesses, including their own. burkhalter says "..we've got fire fighters, first responders who are helping put out the fires, when their own homes are being lost. and that's just something that people just don't

to say they were prepared for an emotional day, no matter the outcome. in missouri... a big pipeline explosion lit up the sky overnight. it happened outside kansas city... and people who live nearby say they could see the bright flames but did not feel the explosion itself. the explosion went off on an underground line carrying liquid propane.... officials aren't sure what caused it to rupture. no one was hurt... and crews shut the pipeline off and got the fire out in a couple of hours. in california... one person is dead and several other hurt after the side of the freeway and landed on top of a homeless encampment. it happened yesterday outside los angeles on the 405. the car pinned down three people... one of them died on the scene. investigators are now looking into what caused the driver to go over the edge. isis is claiming responsibility for inspiring the car- and-knife attack on the campus of the ohio state university. there is no evidence to back the claim.. but the f-b-i says they are looking

nevada is now in the crosshairs for a recount. election officials will recount ballots in five counties after independent presidential candidate roque de la fuente requested and paid about 14- thousand dollars to have it done. he finished last in the state but said he wants to counterbalance a recount green party candidate jill stein requested in wisconsin, which donald trump won. hillary clinton won nevada. deputy secretary of state for elections wayne thorley said wednesday that state law requires the five counties -- carson city, douglas, mineral, nye and clark -- to begin the recount within five days and complete it within five additional days. in recent days, many people - including lawmakers -- have talked about a potential conflict of interest between president-elect donald trump's businesses and the presidency. today, we're learning he plans to address those concerns at a press conference in about two weeks. lauren blanchard

we start with breaking news. a man -- considered armed and dangerous -- is wanted for a shooting another man. this is 33-year-old max cook. police say cook shot a man several times during a fight with him and another woman. it happened at a mobile home park earlier this month -- near nellis and owens. the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. a warrant has been issued for cook on several charges... including attempted murder. if you know anything about the shooting or where cook might be... call police or crimestoppers. the number is 7-0- 2-385-5555. racist letters being sent to people across the valley... and the paper those hateful notes are written on -- comes from a neighborhood homeowners association in spring valley. fox5s eric hilt
