news this morning. first - cassandra jones joins us with a quick look at the fox 5 weather 24-7 forecast. good morning i'm cassandra jones with fox5. it will be another cold morning with lows into the 30's before sunrise. we'll see a few clouds drift across the area, keeping temperatures up just a degree or two compared to last night. skies will be mostly sunny on thursday with a forecast high of 55 degrees in las vegas and afternoon breezes 10-20 mph. another system dives into the area friday, bringing another shot of cool air along with gusty winds out of the north. high temperatures will be in the mid to low 50s with wind gusts around 30 mph. the strongest winds will be east of las vegas along the colorado river. a wind advisory takes effect at 7 am friday for mesquite, moapa, laughlin, and lake havasu city. it stays breezy on saturday with upper 50s before highs rebound back to 60 degrees on sunday. take advantage of the milder day on sunday because even colder air arrives early next week. here is a look at

after 8 last night.. and police say the shooting seems to be over drugs. we're told the suspects are still out there.. several witnesses say they saw three people leave the scene in a red jeep cherokee. if you know anything that can help police.. call crime stoppers at 702- 385-55-55. looks like the days of easy, free parking on the strip may be coming to an end.. the wynn is now the latest casino property to announce new parking charges. it will cost drivers 13 to 18 dollars for valet parking.. but self parking will still be free.. for now. the change comes just a day after an annoucement from caesars entertainment.. but m-g-m resorts started the trend back in june.. people we talked to aren't excited about paying to park. those who have passed away. the southern nevada h-i-v awareness consortium will mark the day with presentations, guest speakers and a candle light walk. the gay and lesbian community center of southern nevada is also offering free h-i-v and s-t-d testing today through saturday. more than a million people around the world die of aids every year.. and 37 million people are still living with h-i-v. there's another reason to go red today.. it's national "eat a red apple day" -- not joking. helped put out a series of deadly wildfires in tennessee. gatlinburg mayor mike werner says officials are talking about the possibility of re- opening the town tomorrow.. which would give business owner and neighbors their first look at the damage since the closure on monday. 7 people were killed in the flames. it seems like the southeast can't catch a break... as 13 twisters toppled through parts of alabama, louisiana, mississippi and tennessee. the national weather service confirmed that five people were killed in two states... early wednesday just as firefighters got control of the fires in tennessee...

in national headlines this morning.. the suspect in the deadly shooting of a police officer has been shot and killed.. after an eleven- hour standoff. authorities say the police officer was was shot multiple times while answering a domestic violence call in tacoma, washington. both he and his accused shooter have not been identified. some people in charlotte sa decision not to charge a police officer in the death of keith scott was legal.. but not right. community groups want a full federal investigation into the shooting.. and a change in police policies to encourage officers to use non-deadly force and improve their negotiating skills. charlotte police say they're having an independent review of their policies. a presidental election recount is set to begin today in wisconsin.. where donald trump beat out hillary clinton by

percentage point. 5 counties in nevada will also have their votes recounted.. after independent candidate -- roque de la fuente -- paid about 14-thousand dollars to have it done. he finished last in the silver state.. but says he wants to counterbalance a recount that green party candidate jill stein requested in wisconsin. she also asked for recounts in michigan and pennsylvania. donald trump will be in indiana and ohio today to kick off his "thank you" tour. the president- elect is getting praise from factory workers in the hoosier state.. after he reached a deal to keep about one- thousand jobs at a carrier air conditioning plant there. but.. some democrats are questioning the terms of that deal.. as carrier is expected to get tax breaks from the state of indiana -- vice president-elect mike pence's home state -- where he is still the governor. pence's new washington neighbors have a message for him.. heintzen: "a respectful message showing, in my case my disagreement with some of his thinking.'

mesquite nevada free parking on the strip might go the way of the 99 cent shrimp cocktail. mgm resorts violated what many tourists and locals thought was their right by charging for parking earlier this year. now caesars said it will do the same at eight of it's nine properties. they say it's all to enhance your parking experience.. not a lot of you are buying that .. voicemails. hey most of the locals don't go to the strip, even though we love it but this parking thing is outrageous! they're trying to give you a couple of ways around [having] to pay. a really good way,if you haven't already learned that you're not [going to] win there. boyco casinos that are charging you to park. i've lived in las vegas for 40 years and this is [going to] be the biggest mistake these hotels are [going to] make. and people are [going to] stop going to the hotels, especially the locals. so i think they're destroying themselves. the push for 15 came back to life around the country, including here in las vegas on tuesday.. workers again protesting for a higher minimum wage.

morning.. the suspect in the deadly shooting of a police officer has been shot and killed.. after an eleven- hour standoff. authorities say the police officer was was shot multiple times while answering a domestic violence call in tacoma, washington. both he and his accused shooter have not been identified. some people in charlotte say the decision not to charge a police officer in the death of keith scott is legal.. but not right. community groups want a full federal investigation into the shooting.. and a change in police policies to encourage officers to use non-deadly force and improve their negotiating skills. charlotte police say they're having an independent review of their policies. a presidental election recount is set to begin today in wisconsin.. where donald trump beat out hillary clinton by less than a percentage point. 5 counties in nevada will also have their votes recounted.. after independent candidate -- roque de la fuente -- paid

a group of 38- hundred students in arizona have beaten a guiness world record for the longest high- five chain these students took a break from their classwork to beat the previous record of 2-thousand-711 consecutive high fives set in taiwain last year... official judges were there to make sure the students took no longer than 10 seconds in between the connection of the high fives. mos 2 says: "good high five is above your head or at your head. bad high five is down below" guinness says that they record about 45-thousand records... but only four- thousand make it into the big book... so the students are going to have to wait patiently
