one firefighter went to the hospital for observation. cedar rapids police shot and killed a man after he fired a fun at them. the officers involved in the shooting were not injured.. itithappened last night in cedar rapids in the 3200 block of ravenwood terrace northwest kwwls amanda gilbert has been there all morning. she joins us live with more details. alal- police are still at the scene. iowa division of criminal investigation agent rock rahm told me they are keepipig police herere until they are sure this area is secure. the shooting happened around 10:30 last night. cedar rapids police say they were after a car that they believed had three suspects for a drug investigation nside of it. when they stopped the car... a

man they believe to be in his early 20s got out and started to run. two officers and a k9 chased after the man...he turned around and shot at them. the officers then fired back and the suspect wass shot and killed. this all happened near two daycares... i spoke with one mom who told me what it was like learning about this shoting from her daycare provider. unbelievable. my reaction was wait your street. the s sreet from whee everything went down and she said the dog started barking.' nowwhis all started at a drug store in the area and ended in a neighborhood by the daycare centers. i just got off the phone with one oo the daycare providers and she said she called all her kid's parents and told them to park away from the street and walk their kids to her front door to make sure they were safe. we've got you covered live in cedar rapids amandadagilbert kwwl
