a police officer shot during a traffic stop. it happened last night in albuquerque, new mexico. the officer iinow fighting f f his and neck -- but there's still a lot we don't know about what happened. "it appears at this time that the officer had engaged in a traffic op. there was an altercation and the officer was hot multiple times." no names hhe been releaad, but we do know the officer is an eight- year veteran. he's been through several surgeries already is morning. a suspect has been arrested. also new overnight: an arrest is made after two firefighters are held hostage. this happend in ohio. several firefighhers were sent to battle a brush fire in the woods behind a home -- west of cleveland. the man who lives there was trying to burn leaves. when firefighters told him to stop, they say he pulled ut a rifle and took two of them hostage. they weee held for two hours. it all ended peacefully. the man

kept telling them -- he wasn't going to hurt anyone. he then told them he wanted a beer and his psychiatric medication. in eastern wa: we've learned the name of the man killed by police in a shootout. we first brought you this story yesterday on today in iowa. police say jonathan gossman fired at officers when they were chasing hhm. they say he raaoff after a traffic stop tuesday night. "it sounded like fireworks but i'm an active shooter myself and i know what gun shots sound like. it was like 5 or 6 right in a row, there was no the shooting happened near two daycares. at least one provider called to alert parents. doesn't happen. and she was lie i know. so she was just kind of telling me because they are just across the street from where everything went down." e d-c-i is investigating. the two officers involved are on paid

department's policy. they were not hurt. a waterloo murder trial is now underway. roderick ward junior faces firr degree murrr in the deatt of gary wilson. police say ward shot wilson with a shotgun several times outside of ward's home in august of last year after an argument. the jury reaches a verdict in the case offthe man who ent on a shooting spree last year in iowa. "we the jury in the above and murder to mark mitchell." pete polson has been convicted of attemptete murder. prosecutors say he drove through pleasant hill -- just outside of des moines -- shooting randomly at people. two people were hurt. polson argued he was on drugs and does not remeeber what happened. today, the stakes are high for hillary clinton. she goes before the house committee investigating the deadly attack in benghazi ttree years ago. tracie potts has a preview. democrats call it a partisan witch hunt. republicans say this could be the best chance to find out why fofor amemeicans died in benghazi. "(are you looking forward to the house benghazi hearing?) i am." bbides grilling clinton on her own emails... still being released... lawmakes are expected to unveil new information today: eight thousand pages of email from ambassador chris stevens. "so where does the fault lie for the timing of this? it lies with the state dpartment who only 36 hours ago has released some of ambassador stevens' emails." stevens asked for more security before he was killed. he didn't get it. clinton's team says those requests never reached her deek. "i expect that secretary clinton will push back on the half-truths and the outright fabrication of these crazy conspiracy theories." the committee wants to know why stevens requests were denied? were there warnng signs? and - given the risk k why were we there in the first place? today clinton's expected to push

a big vote of support for congressman paul ryan -- if he wants to be the next house speaker. after a long meeting with the freedom caucus wednesday -- 70- percent of that group agreed to endorse him. the freedom caucus is made up of about 40 conservatives -- and they have caused fits for the according to the washington examiner, iowa congresan rod blum -- a member of the freedom the party. g-o-p leadership will voter look at the new home for the decorah eagles. it's been a tough few months at theeaptor resource center. but now, some good news to share. kwwl's brad hanson shows us why. it's been a busy fall for the decorah eagles--working hard to build up their nest. and it's one company being scrutinized. the national transportation safety board is holding a public meeting today about air bag inflators made by the takata corporation. more than 20 million inflators used in u.s. made vehiies have been recalled. that happened after we learned the faulty inflators caused the air bags to inflate with too much force... sending metal shards right into the faces of drivers and passengers. . a popular pizza restaurant is robbed five times this year -- so the community steps up to deliver a solution. the owner of mama's pizza in washington could not afford her own security system. that changed this week -- after thousands of dollars were donated through a go-fund-me page. that will cover the cost of brand new security equipment --hich includes seven cameras. she knows your voice, your family members, and so forth. so she's ust a part of oor community like a family member. and when we call her

the owner says she feels more secucu, but more thaa anything... she's thankful for the support. pepsi releases a special bottle to celebrate "back to the future" day... and it sells out faster than a time- shifting delorean! that made some fans upset. 'pepsi perfect' was featured in the film "baa to the future part two," -- the movie that sent marty mcfly and doc brown to october 21-st, 2015. pepsi released just 65-hundred bottles -- and some of thos re sold on tuesday -- october 20th. fans were nn happy -- saang the company did not stay true to the script. . late last night, pepsi said it will sell another batch november third. it is one homeowner calls on a comppny to clean the fireplace, but now he's been left out in the cold. what people need to know before hiring someone to do the work this fall... next.

"they said they could do it right on the spot. si happily agreed allegedly worked on the chimney for a few hours, collected this check for 15-hundred dollars... and said they'd be back to finish the job. but that never happened. "i would call, leave a voicemail..." hydle never heard back. his 15-hundred dollars - gone. now with cold nights soon ahead... he's eager to get it fixed. we useseit several times in the winter this time, he asked around and found a company ...priddy clean chimney sweeps ... which came with rave reviews. it uncovered problems hydle didn't know he had. "this was pretty bad not up to code" el hage says the other company did nothing more than cover up the problem.... and one that could pose carbon monoxide poisoning inside any home.
