first priority is to keep people out of danger... even on hallowen. hawkeye fans were invited to wear costumes to today's game against maryland... with a few exceptions. people wearing costumes which ones... were told to return the weapons to their car or they would not be granted entry. those dressed as law enforcement officers had public safety) "so we're just trying to give some people just some common guidelines, what would be considered a risk to us or a risk to other people to, again, make people enjoy the game, make it fun for families." visin said this rule has also been implemented in years past... which may be the reason not many people had costumes considered a threat this year. this wasn't the only safety issue poice dealt with beacuse of the hawkeye game tonight. i'll have more on that at 10. we've got you covered live in

iowa city... hillary maglin ...kwwl news. authorities say there have only been a few costume issues during the hawkeye game. now to the cyclones -- their homecoming game is underway agaisnt texas. and cyclone fans are all decked out in halloween costumes too. coach roads says he really likes this little fan's costume. let's check in with storm track seven meteorologist kyle kiel for your first forecast. kyle -- 7 weather team. see the screen for your complete weather information. here is additional forecast weather isn't looking too bad out there. the temperatures are hovering right around average for october 31st. we're just clearing skies overnight, so the trick or treaters have some pretty nice weather. satellite and radar shows the rain well off to the east, we are just left with ssme clouds, howwer ththre is some clearing off to the west and that will get in here later tonight. here's the current temperatures across eastern iowa. upper 40s to right around 50 degrees. here's the storm track 7 live ather network showing dry conditins across eastern iowa. details on a warm up in just a w minutes.

16 iowa street address -- as firefighters were called to the 5-16 iowa street address in cedar falls. the cause remains under investstgation. hundreds of students are iowa dorm. students were told to leave the morning fire. it waa reported in the slater resideee hall -- which is home to several freshmen and sophomores. kw-wl's jessica hartman speaks with students affected by the fire. jessica -- what were emotions like this weekend? mac -- students tell me there was a lot of confusion as they gathered outside the dorm around 1-30 this morning. many tell me they weren't sure whether it was a drill or an actual@fire. everyone to move back and someone from the 9th floor said the fire to one room o o the ninth floor -- making students on other floors think it was a prank. consolati"we were all just hartman"students evacuated from slater were then sent

they let us back." smoke and water damaged several dorm floors. you can see here windows open in rainy- 50 degree weather to air out the smell of smoke. because of the damage - students on floors eight & nine had to stay with friends for the night. who died after a gun battle with police. the suspect fired several rounds at officers and police fired back. the alleged gunman as killed. a witness said the gunman appeared to be armed with a rifle. an investigation is underway to look into the shots fired by officers. the officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave. aaearch gains omentum for a missing teenager in eastern iowa this weekend. moe sed was last seen at his waterloo home a week ago on thursday. the waterloo west high school student is a refugee from burma. his family says they're worried -- because moe has special needs and has not been taking his medicine. on frida -- his family, classmates, police, and community members cammtogether to look for him. they were talking to people, business owners, and haned out flyers. moe's family says he's shy, quiet, and speaks very little english. they "i putthe faith in god'd' hands nothing so i don't know."

for sunday we will be mostly sunny and warmer, and that trend will continue as we start the work week. the rain has moved out ust in time for the trick or treaters. the rain started last night and lasted through the late morning hours. here are the rain totals across waterloo, dubuque, cedar rapids and iowa city. generally a quarter to half iowa. storm track 7 sstellite and radar shows the rain well off to the east. we are just left with some lingering cloud cover. however, clearing is taking place in central iowa, and that will make its way into our area as we go throughout the evening. this is ahead of a very nice start to the month of november. current temperatures right

now across eastern iowa are in the upper 40s to right around 50 degrees. our temperatures today thanks to the llw clouds and the rain. we will fall to the upper 30s and lower 40s for the overnight. here's the storm track 7 live weather network camera, showing the quiet conditions as we dry out from the rain that we had earlier today. let's time out the cloudiness with uture track. starting early this evening, we will see a partly to mostly cloudy sky. as we head to about midnight, we will see a mostly clear sky. the wind will be ligig to moderate, so we could see a couple areas of patchy fog, however i am not expecting anything widespread. as we go throughout e

where the big parade is about to kick off. shirley -- how are people preparing for the big night? all day long -- the galena community has been preparing for the people coming to town. businesses along the parade route have been setting up for all the activites. there's also people who came out early to get a good spot in order to see all the fun action. now it's been raining all day, but it doesn't seem like that's going affect much. orgaazers say they're expecting ten-thoussd people to attend, which is a bit less than last year's because of the weather. parade "this is fun...it's fun, they close the whole street down for the parade, they got flames that come shooting out, so it was just something we were looking forward to seeing."

for the gold today -- owen siebring has more from fort dodge -- in fort dodge at the state cross country meet, the weather cleared upjust in time for the of pleasant valley led wire to wire on the way to yet another state title. but the big race for the day came in 4a boys, where 5 mississippi valley school came into the day ranked in the state's top ten. and this race did not disappoint, as tysen vandraska of prairie just barely edged out sam schillinger of cedar falls, but the tigersswere able to takk home second place overall. in class 3a boys, mount vernon- lisbon showcased a dominating
