"the movement to ban the box is already effective in more than 100 cities around the the question asking if someone has committed a felony from their applications -- although they could still ask in an interview, and do a background check" darin beck owns ten businesses in the cedar valley. he says he's in the second chance business "it rarely would influence whether a person is going to get to be kept on applications, saying the box makes the process easier for everyone. hospital with severe head injuries -- but did not survive. more than 200 students missing school today after police receive a gun threat. monticello police receiving an anonymous text message shortly after the start of the school day saying a student would bring a gun to monticello high school. more than half the students deciding not to go for safety reasons. the district posted on their website they didn't anticipate danger to any of the students but they did take the threat seriously. "given the current state of affairs nation wide we chose to we did so." the school normally doesn't have police on school grounds, but did today following the threat. new at ten -- one area city making a move tonight to set itself up for expansion in the future. dubuque's city council voting to buy a utility company tonight that will impact the size of the

kwwl's brad hanson has been learning more about this tonight. he joins us live now from the on the surface, this seems like a fairly mundane buy--one point three million dollars for a water and sewer system in an area outside of dubuque known as key west. but the council approving that purchase tonight means dubuque is poised to grow. streets of key west. dubuque's city council voting 7-0 to buy twin ridge (david resnick, dubuque city council) "we intend to buy this good way." they buy the company for one point three million dollars, using money mostly pulled from delaying other projects. but city officials say these properties will eventually be annexed into dubuque, and dubuque is set to profit about four million dollars from property taxes and fees over the first ten years. a big deal for

resnick, because the city won't lose money on the deal. "we're scraping our head right now on the debt ceiling. so we need to think of other ways, and a way we thought of a good you can't do both things all the time. you have to make good choices, and i think we've done that tonight. and perhaps as important-this move puts dubuque in a position to grow. "this means jobs, this means lower the tax rate. yes, this is infrastructure. and very proud of the city of dubuque for investing in infrastructure. we're ready for the future, because of the purchases we made tonight." property owners in that area will initially pay higher utility rates because they're currently

last season the denver cyclones made a somewhat shocking run to the class a semifinal -- this time -- the 4th ranked cyclones are no longer under the radar -- denver hosting montezuma with a shot at the quarterfinals on the line -- on denver's opening drive, facing a 4th and 7 from the montezuma 11, #28 izaack shendenhelm goes right up the gut and scores easily to give the cyclones a 7-0 lead. still in the first quarter, denver with the ball again. 2nd the ball again and sprints to the outside, just getting into the endzone to make it 15-0 cyclones with the two point conversion. onto the second quarter, the cyclones have the ball 1st and 10 from the braves 13. #10 mitchel siech gets some great blocking, cuts it to the outside and hits paydirt to make it 22-0 denver. montezuma is trying to fight back as on a 3rd and 10 from their own 30, quarterback logan price fires a dart to #2 brody mckeag in stride, and he's gone! 70 yards to the endzone to get the braves on the scoreboard to make it 22-7. but it's just too much denver tonight as the cyclones advance, 57-14. on to gilbertville -- 8 man football --
