(naasound -- busyy intersection) "i don't feel safe at all when you're waiting for the bus, because a car can hit you, and i just don't feel safe, because it's early in the mornings, and the cars are going 45 miles ann hour." several hours after wednesday morning's accident -- mandy garrigus says --- she too was almost hit. "i was afraid. i had d o stepped back at llast 20 feet away from where i was standing. so, i had to do something to protect myself." according to waterloo police -- 33-year-old robert johnson darted into traffic when he was hit this morning. following the crash -- he was taken to the hospital to be treated for broken bones.

according to police -- the 21- yeararld laporte city driver was not cited -- because it did not appear they were doing anything wrong. this is the second time in a week that someone's been hit by a car on university. cedar falls police say terry harp was trying to cross iversity just block away from where the man was hit today. she later died from her injuries. the intersection where she was hit is slated for a round-a-bout in the upcoming university reconstruction project. some rain is in the forecast tomorrow... let's go to storm track seven chief meteorologist mark schnackenberg is

you saw an officer in the street. the officer then fires those 4 shshs as we just heard. the suspect continues to drive off...sending police on a chase for 5 miles. at last check, the driver, brandon seely is still in the hospital for treatment. kwwl's lauren moss has been looking deeper into this video we received from a viewer.. she joins us now with more.. ron, there are still many questions tonight.. seeley was wanted for probation violation for possession with intent to deliver marijuana. we had many viewers reach out to us...asking why an officer would shoot at someone wanted for a drug charge.. let's take a closer look aa the video in slow motion... seeley is in the mini van that comes screeching around the corner. take a look- the highlited area on your screen is an officerrwho was out of his car, in the middle of the street attempting to get seeley to stop.

towards the offficer... who then fired at him...in attempt to stop him, but seeley continued to drive away for miles. i spoke with many frustrated neighbors who say they are upset that an officer opened fire in an area that is only a block away from an elementary school. and i'm working more on that story, for tonight at 6. ron, back to you. thanks lauren- the iowa division of criminal investigation is continuing to investigate. . also in continuing coverage... a man on trial for killing his ex- girlfriend in broad daylight in the parking lot of a marion hy-vee. nicholas leurkins is charged with first degree murder.... he's accusededof stabbing anan killing 29-year-old lynnsey donald donald was stabbed as she was walking out of the marion hy-vee marion in seven years. prosecutors now say luerkens planned the whole thing... writing

about killing lynnsey donald days before her murder. also today, luerkens' lawyers said he lost his job late last year... which led to a string of events leading up to the murder. luerkens lost his job at go-daddy... in 2014 after his lawyer said he missed a few hours of work... which luerkens claims was approved. his attorneys also sa he ststrted inking to deal with losing his job. that's when lynnsey donald... his girlfriend whom he was living with... moved out. luerkens' lawyers say this caused him to become suicidal. uerkens' lawyer said his family was planning an intervention for his strange behavior... but the murder happened before they could do so. election night has come and gone, but we're not done with electioo 2015 coverage... two of eastern iowa's mayoral races are down to a run off. in waterloo...none of the ccdidates recieeed more thann

50 percent of the vote. so the two candidates receiving the most votes -- councilman quentin hart and former mayor tim hurley in cedar falls... theee were three people on yesterday's ballot the top two, school board member jim brown and current mayor jon crews will go head to head next monthth kwwl's nikki newbrough is live in downtown waterloo. nikki these candidates are hoping voters will come out one more night. that's right. and that night is december first. the black hawk county auditor, grant veeder says this isn't a surpirse. they were preparing for a runoff election in waterloo and cedar falls. he ys in both waterloo and cedar falls you had high profile candidates and high profile issues. you see, a majority is defined as more than fiity percent. for waterloo and cedar falls, if no one gets the majority, a runoff

will be held. veeder says each city in black hawk county has three choices for with the most votes wins. ballot then you have two choices, hold a primary to get the number of candidates down to two before the regular election or you just hold a regular election and if no body gets a majority you hold a runoff." in the incident if there is a tie with this runoff, grant veeder says the board of supervisors will draw. as fofo the candidatats, we spoke to them yesterday. they say they are ready to continue campaigning for another month. we've got you covered live in nenes. the cedar falls and waterloo mayoral races aren't the only races with runoffs. people who live in ward four in for who they'd like in that city

"i've done it for most of my life you know with my dad and brothers." now, along with his sons the work continues. the home is one of two that will be moved for the intersection homes were se for demolition until they were bought from the city. "this is the second home that is set to also be moved now both of these homes are in great furniture, all the bedrooms are you know ready to be lived in."
