in continuing coverage... the murder trial continues for a man accused f killing his ex girlfriend as she was walking out of a grocery store nicholas leurkins is charged with first degree murder.... he's accused of stabbing and killing 29-year-old lynnsey donald - in front of her seven year old osn... donald was stabbed as she was walking ouu of the marion hy-vee kwwl's nikki newbrough was in court today.

the defense ccntinued to call witnesses today. they are trying to convince the jury luerkens wasn't himself when the incident happened. from familiy members to nurses with the abbe mental healtt center, they all indicicted luerkens wasn't himself. his sister saying she noticed he was very sad, depressed, and didn't want to talk. his brother says he was depressed after loosng his job at go-daddy. but it was when luerkens went to the linn county jail, he was then put on suicide watch. no one is hurt after a minivan hits a firetruck - with lights and sirens goingg. cedar falls police say the driver of a miniman pulled out from a stop sign on west second street and hit the firetruck that was responding to a medical emergency... the minivan had to be towed from the scene -- the firetruck had about four thousand dollars in damage to the front end. the driver of the minivan was cited for failing to yield. homeless people in cedar rapqds are protesting after bfing kicked out of a city y ark where theyyad set up camp. the group held signs reading where do we go next? and later met with the mayor over the issue. kwwl's kristin rogee caught up with the grgrup as they were protesting. they were upset, telling me the park was their home
