latest. what do we know? it happenedduring a confrontation with the boy's father. this morning, it is the officers who are facing justice. officers norris greenhouse jr. and derrick stafford are facing charges of second-degree murder in the death of 6-year-old jeremy mardis. he was killed when the city marshals opened fire on his father's suv. chris few was critically injuried during the police chase. jeremy buckled in the front seat was struck several times in the head and chest. in a prere conference on friday, colonel mike edmonson declined to say why they were in pursuit of chris few. an investigation has beeee under way with the 911 calls and witness testimony and body cam video worn by the officers which has not been released. describing the video.

going through what we call an explosive decompression. >> reporter: but u.s. officials tell nbc news that intelligencee interceptsts reveal isis fighters in sinai promising something big before the crash, then bragging just after it, to their leaders in syria, that they had taken down the plane. the growing suspicion it might be a bomb convinced russia to stop all flights to egypt. 50,000 russian tourists now in sharm el sheikh where the plane took off. it was thehe intelligence chief who recommended russian planes stop flying here. intelligence shared with the u.s. and britain. almost unprecedented. we still don't know what the intelligence is. british officials now believe a bomb may have been put in the cargo hold inside or on top of luggage. airport workers and equipment

jeb bush has c ce to his defense calling ben carson's story inspirational. if it is between carson and media story, i'm going with ben carson. >> chris, thank you. a new book is making a l l of waves on the campaign trail. there is some talk of whether it could turn into another headache for candidate jeb bush. it is called"destiny in power." the american odyssey of george h.w. bush. it is authored by jon acham. thank you for joining us. >> thank you. >> i want to talk about what chchs just laid out for us with ben carson. what is the impact of this particular issue on his campaign? >> most of us judge on historical historical. 2016 has alluded all analogy with trump and carson so far ahead. the past may not be much of a guide here. i suspect it is a bump in the

road for carson. as mentioned a second ago. it is an unconventional campaign in an unconventional year. ththconventional rules o o how campaigns can go off track sometimes probably don't apply. >> it is something we will be following closely. talking about your book, it made headlines this week as we lelened more a aut george h.w. bush's view of his son's insiders when he was in the white house. elder bush saying cheney had his empire and rumsfeld had a lack of humility. jeb bush, the third bush in the equation. we asked him and he said his dad was trying to create a different narrative for his brother. is that your take? >> i think president bush 41 was speaking to history. he thought that at times, the style of the 43 bush administratiti was hawkish in a

represent the substance of that administration. this i a work of history. it was the long view on 41's part. i think the key thing about this is the president 41 was making a int that diplomacy and force are not competitive. they should be complementary. that was the view in the second term that bush 43 came to as well. >> we bring bush into the equation, there is some concern about the timing of the bookk by those in his circle and whether or not it could have a negative impact on his campaign. i think most people agree 2016 is not a conventional campaign year. is this the thing you think couldd impact jeb b bh's campaign? >> i honestly don't. i have been surprised by that line of analysis. it seems to me that the story of his father, remarkable american odyssey, youngest pilot in the navy. young man who joined the navy on his 18th birthday.

homeland security is asking countries to increase security after u.s. officials tell nbc news they picked up chatter from isis about bragging about bringing down the plane. and the 18-year-old boy reported missing is now speaking out. the teen releasing a statement on friday saying he wants his privacy. we start this half hour with a sexting scandal rocking a small town in colorado. teenagers accused of taking and sending nude photos. the school district has started suspending those involved, but this could be t t least of their worries. nbc's blake mccoy is following the developments. blake, good morning. >> reporter: craig, good morning. a criminal investigation has now been launched. the students could be facing felony chchges.

serious consequences. a colorado high school in crisis. nude and explicit photosf minors being collected and traded like baseball cards. >> it is a contest. >> reporter: the school superintendent says the 1,000 kids attending canon city higig school, at least 1/3 are involved. some at least as young as 13. one photo taken on school grounds. the police department launched an investigation. >> we do havav a telephone with several hundred images on it. >> reporter: authorities now have three cell phones in their possession and say kids were hiding the images using phoho vault apps on t tir phones. apps disguise themselves as calculators or other tools so parents don't suspect what is really inside. some students have already been suspended. and the football team was forced to forfeit last night's final
