wateteoo police are investigating following after a car crashed in waterloo yesterday. it happened near courtland and vinton. police say the car was shot while it was in motion. noarrests have been made and policecedid not have a description of any suspects. continuing coverage this afternoon... a shooting outside of an iowa nightclub leves one person dead and at least three others injured. this is the latest in three separate homicide cases in the des moines area this weekend. reid chandler has more on what happened and how members of the "we hear arguing, and then we hear a car alarm go off for a within ear-shht of evolution nightclub on north-west sixth drive... he was taking his dogs out early sunday morning when he heard the sounds of the metro's third homicide this weeeend. following a mumps outbreak on campus -- the university of iowa is offering a free, third dose of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine. the university's medical director says they want students to get the vaacine now beforrthey leave for thanksgiving break. the director says students under 25 who live in close quarters and who participate in activities are most likely to get mumps. a half marathon is in te books -- and a runner wantsspolice to have his medal. that runner fell about a half a mile from the finish line in georgia. a police officer saw what happened and then stepp@d in... "i felt the need to help him ffish this race so bad i wouud have carried him if i needed to. it was a connection and experience the officer says he'll never forget. now that act of kindness has taken to sociallmedia -- with thousands of people liking the pictures they've seen. customers inside an ihop say they heard a series of booms, then the power went out. they couldn't believe what they saw once they stepped outside. a sinkhole swallowed about 15 cars.

we may not want it... but at least one state needs snow right now. that's california -- which has been dealing with a serious drought. and check this out -- seven inches of snow falling yesterday. ski resorts are opening earlier than they've been able to in years. for the irst time in almost a decade -- "since 2004, we have not had an opening day here we've that this year with top to bottom skiing all opening weekenlong and that was from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m."

now. tell you the truth, i wouldn't even be out here." if you know you're about to hit a deer ----don't swerve to avoid it. a man on his honeymoon in south africa goes cage- diving with sharks... and ends up getting the scare of his life. the man came face to face with a grgrt white shark anddescaped to tell the tale without a scratch. the shark smashed into the cage at super speed... its teeth just missing his arm. the man immediately lunged to the surface... clearly in shock at what just happened. this was at a popular tourist destination known for its large numbers of great white sharks. one investigator says they're "90 percent sure" the noise hearr in the last second of a cockpit recording was because of a bomb.

that's the latest as the investigation continues into a russian plane crash in egypt. in russia, the bells f st. petersburg cathedral tolled 224 times - one for each victim of the disaster. rescue crews are digging through the mud -- searching for victims after o dams collappd at an iron n oreemine. it happened in brazil. 28 people are missing -- 13 are mine workers. the cause of the disaster is still being investigated. two train derailments in two days in wisconsin. on saturday, a b- n-s-f trail carrying ethanol derailed in western wisconsin -- near alma. about 18- thousand gallons llked into theemississippi. no one was hurt, but two we do believe that burlington lot more traffic, ah, so we've been planning, we knew this would probably happen at some time. b-n-s-f says it had ped the

would reopen is morning. this morning another train derailed but this one is closer to home. a train carrying coal derailed this morning in southern iowa. b-n-s-f says it happened just after 8 this morning. the train hit a road grader at a a rural ossing about five miles east of new london. 21 cars and two locomotives derailed the person operating the road grader was injured, but bnsf says their injuries are not life threateninig. a "deplorable crime." that's what the pope is calling a recent leak of vatican documents. the vatican arrested two people last week suspected of leaking documents to the authors of two new books. the books ddict a vatican plagued by mismanagement, greed and corruption. they also show the pope facing resistance to his reform agenda.. the pope has been credite for changing peoples' viewsson climate change. capitalizing on that -- thousands of environmentalists and religious groups marched from the colosseum in rome to saint peter's square to highlight the upcoming u-n climate csange conference in paris...
