the university of iowa campus. the first hawk alert coming this morning, then many more this afternoon. kwwls olivia mancino has the latest. "yeah guys multiple reports of sexual assaults happening in less than 24 hours and campus "less than 24 hours is a little alarming" alarming that in the middle of the day, a man is campus. "a lot of my friends were shocked we were talking about it in a group chat today, saying how scary it was" the reports coming in near the university hospital and main library tuesday afternoon was the second hawk alert of the day, the first coming in the morning. ashley meade, a nursing student at the university says she often stays at the library until one in the morning. shes afraid to walk alone.

year-old kevin norton are being held on 150- thoudand dollar bail. they were arrested in august after authortiies say they made social media threats against the competition in boston. police later found a shotgun, rifle, and ammunituion in their car when they tried to register for the event. their next court appearance is scheduled for the 19th. authorities are investigating a man's death in calhoun county. the man's body was found in the 200 block of second street in pomeroy with a gunshot wound. no arrests have been made at this time -- but the public is not believed to be in any danger. a local university is offering free vaccines -- after an unusually large outbreak of mumps hit the campus. the outbreak affecting more than 100 people in iowa city since mid- july. the mumps is highly contagious and is spread through contaminated saliva... so the university of iowa is trying to put an end to it.

students packingthe iowa memorial union for their free vaccination earlier today. students getting the shot will be the third round of the measles-mumps- rubella vaccination. (sot. cg: lisa james/university of iowa nurse) "it's our hope that the more students that get vaccinated with this third one slow this outbreak." nurses say the students actually had to get the first two rounds of the m-m-r vaccine to be enrolled in the discussion for a new career and technical education center is underway. it's a 47 million dollar bond issue referendum -- and signatures are being collected to present to the board. waterloo schools superintendent dr. jane lindaman says the career and technical education center will be built near central middle school -- and will benefit the whole community. des moines is the only current location for a school like this. she says schools that have this type of programming have a 92 percent graduation rate. right now, waterloo has 70 to 75 percent graduation rate -- and lindaman says they can do

this is the eve of veterans day, and three iowa veterans have reunited to share their unique bond from a war long ago...a war which saw two of them shot down in combat. the two were pilots of the cobra gunship helicopter, which sits at dubuque's veteran's memorial plaza. the other is the pilot who got them out of harm's way, after they were shot down, all three are together tonight telling their story. kwwl's brad hanson getting the chance to sit down with all three of them tonight. he joins us live now from the t-h media newsroom in dubuque. brad this is an incredible veterans day story. incredible doesn't even begin to describe it--these men last saw their helicopter fourty four years

and today they all came to dubuque for the first time in the cobra attack helicopter stands guard over the veteran's memorial plaza in dubuque. it last saw action more than four decades ago in vietnam--flown by these men--captain ken dehoff and chief warrant officer wayne burk. they're in dubuque ahead of a veteran's day ceremony, sharing their were hit by three 51 caliber machine gun positions, and essentially shot out of the air, and crashed and burned. and then wayne and i had the they were flown to safety by this man--chief warrant officer kent crisler. (kent crisler, chief warrant officer) "this would make a heck of a movie." but instead of a movie theater, they're holding court in a hotel ballroom--confronting ghosts of their past. the jet and are all feared to be dead. nobody on the ground was hurt in the crash. thousands of fast food workers around the country going on strike for higher wages. the workers demanding to raise the minimum wage to 15-dollars an hour. the minimum wage here in iowa is just seven-25 -- so it would be a drastic increase in our state. protestors they say they also want to be able to unionize. today's strike is aimed at presidential candidates -- with the election now just a little less than a year away. a pro skier survives a scary fall while going down a mountain in alaska. the man was going down the hill and filming it for an upcoming movie. he falls into a five-foot trench on one of his first turns -- and loses a ski -- sending him cartwheeling 16-

the huge fall taking him less than a minute, luckily -- he was able to pull his airbag -- softening his fall. skaters in dubuque may be less than a year away from a brand new skatepark--one that promises to bring more skaters into the area. there are currently two in dubuque, but skaters say they're outdated, the ramps are too steep and can be too dangerous. the new park would be a concrete, continuous pour park, which is more modern, and safer for skaters. the city is giving six hundred thousand dollars for the project, while two hundred thousand will have to be raised privately. (ben kahle, dubuque) "once you know, it's kind of an investment in a way. you're not only getting the local kids to get out and get active, but you're getting people from all over." a design firm out of chicago has already been contracted to help park.

the iowa hawkeyes ranked number five...one spot out of the 4-team playoff. clemson is number one...alabama is number two..ohio state is number three and notre dame checks in at number four. the hawks which were number nine in the very first playoff rankings last week--jumped four places to number 5 following their 35-27 win over indiana last saturday. iowa head coach kirk ferentz said the hawkeyes are in the national playoff hunt because they have avoided distractions and stayed focused on one game at a time. that's really the bye week we told and whatever they may have been dreaming up, you can only get there week by week. that's about all you can control. i know it's boring and mundane. but for us to be focused or spend time on anything else right
