let's go to straight to storm track seven meteorologist kye kiel where he is tracking severe ather-- good afternoon everyone. we are tracking the threat for severe weather this afternoon across eastern iowa, right now there is a tornado watch n effect for grundy and tama counties in the kwwl viewing area. this goes until six o'clock this evening. we willlbe watching to the southest for rapid development this afternoon. . hese storms willll be racing to the northeast. especially after two o'clock. here is the severe weather outlook. this has shifted slightly to the north as we arr getting a better idda of exactly where the storm will track. here's a look at the slight risk, which runs from new hampton to elkader to oelwein and points to the south. there is an enhanceerisk of severe weather is the area in orange,

and is basically from highway 30 woke up to a winter wonderland. wintry weather swept into colorado overnight, bringing snow to denver and blizzard-like conditions to some parts of the state. the snow has buried a number of&roads and highways in the city. dozens of flights at denver international airport are canceled because of the weather. up to four inches of snow are expected for denver when all is said and done. in several kansas counties a blizzard warning is in effect. thissis the scene i i northwest kansas. the national weather service says snow and high winds could create zero visibility situations in the region. up to five inces of snow is pbrts of kansas. several kansas schhol districts due to

vegas in december. the democrats debate this saturday in des moines. a fire is so severe -- uthorities are aving a tough time figuring out how many people were on a plane. one thing they do know. they don't think anyone survived. the small business jet slammed into an akron, ohio aaartment building. the building then burst into flames -- and a nearby house also burned. the owner of the jet believes it was carrying nine people at the time. the plane took off from dayton and was suppose to land at an airport in aaron... campus. sarah dallof has the latest from columbiaa missouri. campus is operating normally and officials stress security. this follows what was an unsettling night for many dorms restricted access. one sorority went on voluntary lock down abd some students even opted to packkup and leave campus. well, that person wasn't on or any where near campus when they were writt. they are also looking into who phonedda threat to the black culture center yesterday evening prompting a lock down there. investigators swept the to get back to normal here following a week of upheaval. in columbia, missouri, im sarah dallof, back to you. police say they arrested a suspect, hunter m. park who was not a student at the university of missouri.

homeless veteeans in the area. this month the student veterans of america chapter at hawkeye community college is holding "operation help a veteran." the goal is to collect items that homeless veterans can use.... like coats, bus passes and bsic hygiene items... "a lot of them dd't even havee bubu nothing in ttir house. you know it's not political. it's not whether you suppor the war or not. it's supporting your community. you know your country. a donation box is located in the hawkeye center. businesses can also call hawkeye if they'd like to host their own "operation help a veteran" dodoation box. the sullivan brother's iowa veterans museum honors the service and sacrifice of all there are 11 exhibits in the museum... they start by focusing on the civil war whhh is the firirt war iowans participated in... and it ends with exhibits on more recent wars. the museum also had it's well known voices of veterans. while there, you can hear

stories from those who have served... they've interviewed veterans from 74 of the 99 counties... and conninue to ok for storiis.... one of the veterans they interviewed is a volunteer at the museum... here's the storm track 7 live doppler radar. not much ctivity right now. there are a couple showers and thunderstorms moving through the area right now, just to the west. heavy rain and lightning are possible with that. this is all part of a large area of low pressure that will continue to track through the state. the storm track 7 live weather network right now shows a mostly overcast sky. we'd have a little bit more instability if we had some sunshine, but thankfully that' not t te case. even so, the severe threat still remains. a quick look at temperatures right now show the warmer temperatures to south, where we have the greatest risk for severe weather. here is the hour by hour on futuretrack. early this afternoon we will see a few isolated showers and storms ahead of the main line that will develop and track through the area. so between 3 and 4 o'clock these will be tracking through the area. then as we head into the 5 o'clock hour, these lines of storms will be racing off to the
