cedar rapids, iowa city, washington, williamsburg, tama. tama now starting to dry out. not seeing any rain on the radar there. os ka loo a, and back towards grundy county, black hawk county, spotty showers, at this hour. lingering rain in butler county. bremer county rain. and then northeast iowa, you go over@towards winnesheikh county, southwestern wisconsin and that's where showers and thunderstorms, some heavy downpours as it continues to track in a northeasterly direction. again, we have a few warnings in advance of this. this whole area of rain movov to the north and east with some gusty winds, and then some dry conditions out in the central portion of the state. approaching the 6:00 hour, and thatats the top of the newscast. for right now, we will send it

sitting at the desk. mark, thank you very much. welcome to our severe weather alert continuing coverage this afternoon, tornado warning for cedar and jones c county until 6:15. that's what we have in our area right now. otherwise very heavy rainfall in parts of the kwwl viewing area. goodvening. >> thanks for staying with us. if you are not by the tv right now, we are streaming on kwwl.com with updates constantly, with severe weather happening right now. we are going to send it back to storm track chief meteorologist, who continues to track this all day long. >> yeah. howers and understormrm looking at this yesterday. as a potential for severe weather. we have had strong wind, had some very heavy rain across the region. severe weathther to the northeast, tornado warning for jones county now cancelled. still dealing with severe thunderstorm warnings in our southern counties here, into the quad cities. othing for cedar rapids, iowa city, waterloo, large metros,

drr -- not dry, but no risk of any severe weather. thunderstorms, though, in dubuque, that is under a severe thunderstormarning at this hour. as well as the eastern portion of delaware county, and also into jackson county, a severe thunderstorm warning that remains in effect. all associated with the line of storms moving east, northeast, pinwheels around a large area of low pressure, and producing some gusty winds at time, close to 70 mil per hour, we have had reports earlier today. dubuque, delaware, jackson and jones county, sere thunderstorm warning until 7:00 this evening. expect damaging straight-line winds. haven't had any reports of any hail. it may be a little spinnup, but that'sart of the line of thunderstorms thattould produce damaging wind as it moves to the north and east. areas from manchester to west of monticello, to tipton, you are under just rain. not looking at any severe weatherer.

the north and east, that's the area that has the potential for severe weather. we will be dealing with dry conditions, before another line of showers pass on by. after midnight tonight, probably 2:00, 3:00 in the morning, some real gusty wind expected. a northwest wind. that will provide wind speeds up to 45 mil per hour f f a good poron of the day tomorrow. so some real strong winds. and this is area-wide, and as we get into the day tomorrow, at least we will see some sunshine. still have that tornado watch in effect through the evening hours. that remains in effect until 9:00. cedar rarads, iowa cicity, washington, probably not the risk of severe weather. ron, amanda? >> all right, mark, thanks so much. about an hour ago, a lot of people all across eastern iowa heard some tornado sirens. one of t those places was hudson. kwwl's olivia is live in hudson. what's happening right now? >> reporter: as you can see, it's pretty clear. i am going to tell you, ifou checked in with m at 5:00, you will seeee much different

the rain and the wind, let me give awe timeline. first when we got here, very windy. you couldn't even get your car door open, l let alone sp outside. then the lightning and thunder came, then the heavy rains. real strong rain for a while, we had to kind of take shelter in our vehicle. but everyrhing is dry now. iis clear, i can't obviously get as technical as our meteorologist could, but we have been standing out here the past 20 minutes or so. is nice. my pants are still pretty wet, it's kind of cold drying off, but everything is clearar now. the winds are not strong at all, so very fortunate that we are in a better situation now than we were before. hudson. kwwl news. thanks so much. if you are in hudson, you have pictures you want to share, do that by posting to our facebook page or send them to the station at kwwl news@kwwl.com.

one thing about this storm, such a fast-moving storm. 45, 55 miles per hour. headed towards the dubuque area. brad hanson standing by live as they anticipate some pretty heavy rainfall and a lot of wind later tomorrow in the dubuque area. >> well, ron, and that's really it. we are still anticipating the winds have picd up over the past hour or so. we were relatively dry here in dubuque, until just a few minutes before 6:00, but still no driving rain, nothingoo serious yet, but we can definitely feel the winds continue to pick up. right here on the 3rd street elevator, really feeling them now. we can tell this storm is coming. we have seen flashes of lightning. seems like it's definitely going to arrive here soon. back to you. we have you covered here in few buick. brad hanson -- in dubuque. kwwl news. >> thank you very much. brad hanson has a good vantagege

point overlooking the city of dubuque. nothing going on right now. anticipating lightning, heavy rain and winds in the next hour or so. let's go to mark with the latest. >> we are looking at the threat of severe weather. we are lookingor the storms move out of the area and come to an end. once the storm moves through the region, the large storm, not these thunderstorms here, but this massive large area of low pressure across the mid-of the country -- middle of the country, then the winds starts kicking up. we are talking about wind gustss late tonight, throughout a good portion of the day tomorrow, close to 45 niles per hour. in the meantime, we have been tracking -- 45 miles per hour. we have been tracking this all afternoon@long. showers and thunderstorms, these actually developed in southwestern iowa, and southwestern iowa, they moved all across the southern half of the area, with some of the had effie ran. elkader, heavy rain right now.

suspected. suspected. the college making tough decision to cut faculty members. nicki? >> the president of the college [ inaudible ] decided to cut three faculty members. they tell us although it is tough to hear, they are happy with the support they have received f fm students. >> a spoil -- somber day on the campus of wartburg college. >> i cried when i found out about it. i was very angry. >> three faculty members cut. it is something so many studentstsorked to not have happen. they even protested during faculty meetings. >> the thing i wanted to do was support all the faculty that's there, because everyone is going through a hard time. >> the college goes through a review process every year, due to dlining enrollment, this year, tough decisions were made. the official word coming from the president of the college. >> it can be hard, though, i think, for the general public to separate that sometimes, because they might look at individual and t tnk this is a

with a look at your forecast. we've been tracking showers and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and into the evening hours. those storms will be coming to an end the next couple hours, and then more rain. but tomorrow and later tonight, strong wind. storm tracker showing the risk of severe weather or damaging wind a possibility. yes, still even with 45-mile-per-hour windndusts tomorrow, there could be some tree branches knocked down, or some loose furniture that's pretty light out there, anything that's left outside from the summer or into t fall, and that's still a possibility during the day tomorrow.w. no risk of any storms, though. as for the wind, it becomes windy, remains windy in the morning hours, but then gradually diminishes as we get towards the afternoon. let's take a scan across all

of our weather network. storm track 7 live weather net camera in waterloo, with diminishing rainfall. and we are looking at that to become fairly quiet through the evening hours, and again threat track showingnghat as it moves towards the east. again, we are looking at storm track 7 live weather net camera in waterloo, where we do have clouds and showers. we had some reallytrong weather move through coralville at the iowa riverlanding, and we are dealing with cloudud and still some rain at this hour. cedar falls, storms have now passed you, and we are looking at some quieter weather as we head towards the overnight hours, though in dubuque, w have showererand thunderstorms rolling into the region. we have a severe thunderstorm warning for those of you in dubuque, and on top of hotel julian, a look at th vantage point of dubuque and decorah, the live weather network camera there. rain and isolated thunderstorms. not anticipating severe weather as we head through the

overnight. storm track live radar, a line of thunderstorms continues to rap around -- wrap around the area. heavier rain northern counties, then farther to the east and southeast, we have possible severe weather. in this area, is whereree have the possibility for some strong storms, there's dubuque, just off to the south and wewest, wind gusts could be up around 70 miles per hour, that's where we do have a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for delaware, dubuque, jackson, as well as jones coty. that is until 7:00, and eventually after that, things quiet down, it will be a much quieter night. farther to the west, we have dry weather. once that rain moves through, we have a few hours of dry weather before more showers move in. that's some snow. by the time it moves into central and eastern iowa, it's warm enough here that that's going to be in the form of rain. so no risk of any snow out of the storm system. temperatures at this hour, still fairly mild for thihis time of year. at this hour, 59 in monticello, 53 in iowa city, 52 cedar ram idz. ee -- rapids. temperatures get colderfom. highs in the 40s around here.

so future track, timinin of this, by 11:00, again the storms are well across the area. out of the region, clouds, now here comes the second round of those showers as we head through the overnight hours. so scattered light rain expected, maybe another 10th or quarter inch of rain a possibility by 3:00, still looking at a couple spotty showers by 6:00, otherwise a cloudy sky. as for tonight, showers and thunderstorms during the evening hours, and then eventually showers overnight, temperatures dropping down into the upper 30s, low 40s. that wind direction will switch around to the northwest at 15 to 30 miles per hour. kick off the morning tomorrow with future track at 6:00, we'll have the clouds around through 9:00. notice the clearing line is going to be a real sharp edge to that. by lunchtime, southwestern counties clear, still holding onto some clouds, elkader, decorah dubuque shall towards monticello. afternoon hours, by 3:00 or so, maybe sooner than th, northeastern counties will see sunshine, and we'll have a mostly sunny sky during the fternoon.
