the search continues today with revamped efforts to find a missing eastern iowa teen... then... 40 thousand wrestling fans are getting ready for a historic morning at kinnick stadium. we have a live report from iowa city, on the way. good morning and welcome to iowa. good saturday. as we take a live look outside.... thanks so much for joining us this morning. i'm lauren moss. heart-breaking news out of europe in a developing story that keeps getting worse... a french prosecutor is now saying eight extremists are dead following a night of terrorist attacks in paris... a string of at least six attacks, have killed at least 1- hundred-28 people and have left many more injured... here's the very latest nbc report, out of paris. friday night terror rained down on paris nightspots, a soccer stadium and a concert venue. the attack began with three suicide bombings outside the national stadium during a match. paris police say minutes later, other attackers sprayed cafes near a

opened fire on the audience. one survivor said two gunmen, no older than 25, calmly told everyone anti-terrorist commandos launched an assault on the building, killed the gunmen and rescued the shocked survivors, some over ladders. the survivors, evacuated by bus, were the lucky ones. a paris official said nearly 100 concert-goers died. france's president ordered the country's borders closed and declared an emergency. (sot: voice of translator: the entire territory of france." the series of attacks stunned the nation, but officials said all the attackers had been "neutralized." in washington, president obama proclaimed u-s solidarity with the french people. (sot: president obama) "it's an attack not just on the people of france... but this is no terrorist group made an immediate claim of responsibility. one thing for sure - the attacks turned friday into the deadliest day of violence in paris since world

not all that's going on at kinnick today. the stadium is getting ready for one of it's biggest days ever. grapple on the gridiron starts at 11 a-m and ends at 1:30. then... just four hours later... doors open for tonight's football matchup between the hawkeyes and the university of minnesota. that means the stadium has a few short hours to transform from a wrestling arena into the home of mean fake tickets could be out there... so fans should only buy from authorized university sources... in iowa city... hillary maglin, kwwl news ...kwwl news. the big grapple gets started at

am this morning... and tickets are still available if you want to trek out and see some historic outdoor wrestling... switching gears... as an iowa inmate found guilty of trying to kill another inmate is sentenced to more time in prison. 22-year-old michael swanson sentneced to 25 more years in prison. swanson slashed an inmate in the neck at the iowa medical and classification center in coralville last year. swanson was already serving two life sentences for two fatal shootings in 2010 -- when he was just 17-years old. this morning... waterloo police continue to investigate reports of shots fired near lafayette and oak streets... police say they were responding to a party -- they're seen talking to some people inside the home -- but not many details at this time as they continue to investigate... the uni community is grieving the loss of another student.

dead in his dorm on thursday. no foul play is suspected and the investigation is ongoing. this comes after a similar death earlier this semester. students say the resources for those struggling with personal issues were only briefly mentioned to them before this semester; however, they're pleased with the way the administration has handled the recent incidents. "there is a lot of resources on campus that have been pushed as incident there the services for counseling, so i thought that was nice. obviously, it would have been nice to know that before the first incident happened." we did reach out the university -- but they were unavailable for an interview. an eastern iowa fire department has a problem on their hands, one they say is getting worse in recent years-- hoarder homes.... take a look at this--

cedar falls firefighters have encountered when responding to emergencies they say excessive clutter makes it hard to do their jobs safely... kwwl's olivia mancino speaking with some of the firefighters... and she has the story for us this morning... hundreds of thousands of homes lost to fires across the country each year... putting homeowners, and the firefighters brave enough to save them in danger. in cedar falls, the fire department is seeing a new trend "weve probably had six fires in the alst two years that have involved homes that have an usual amount of content in them" these photos were snapped at local hoarder homes piles of electronics, newspapers and other garbage make it nearly impossible for anyone to move around, let alone firefighters. "a few years ago where the fighfighter rescued the gentleman that lived there and it was very difficult because they had little paths to get someone out of a bedroom window add the heavy amount of equipment firefighters wear to protect themselves, and it presents a

serious challenge when trying to get everyone out safely. kinnick a few minutes ago -- excitement is high in iowa city for this jam-packed day of sports... tonight's football game between the minnesota golden gophers and undefeated iowa hawkeyes serves as the grand finale of the day. this is just another chapter to what has been a season for the ages for hawks football so far... and last night, kwwl's brad hanson caught up with some businesses hoping for a big day there's not much down time for ron christensen at his store. (ron christensen, owner, game day iowa) "the last couple weeks it's really ramped hawkeyes keep winning, and winning, and winning. and that's meant product flying off the shelf for christensen. "our fans now are really coming in and really supporting the hawkeyes. and tomorrow with both the wrestling and football, and then the mens and women's basketball, this is going to be a fantastic

has to retire unexpectedly... the winneshiek county sheriff office's dog - k-9 ricky was recently diagnosed with a terminal medical condition -- and had to retire immediately... ricky worked with his handerl deputy for seven years. the cost for a replacement k-9 is about 20 thousand dollars.... elsewhere here in eastern iowa... an artist creates a life-size replica of a giant ancient sea scorpion... this was discovered in decorah ten years ago. it lived before dinosaurs...and was the predator of what was the sea. the replica is now making its way through decorah. ... "we had about a month and a half to work on it, with to figure out how this creature might have looked from 450-million years ago." the final version of the replica will be on display at the university of iowa...possibly in the spring... the national geographic channel is also in town and plans to

night's treagic attacks on paris... cnn reports that there are americans among the injured in the attacks.. blasts targeted six sites last night... which included suicide bombers... isis has claimed responsibility for the attacks this morning... the death toll is at 128 people with at least 1-hundred more injured at this time... cities across the u.s, taking time to pay their respects to the victims of the attacks.... a make shift memorial was placed in san francisco overnight.. those leaving flowers and cards voiced what many of us are feeling this morning.. as they said thoughts are with

been spending some time in eastern iowa this week... the new jersey governor's campaign trail crossing through cedar falls for a town hall meeting yesterday... christie speaking about imigration reform and saying building a two thousand mile wall isn't the answer. he says he wants to secure the border and use technology like drones to monitor action there. christie answering a number of other questions -- including ones about potential opponent clinton.... "how can she say that what they've done the last seven years has been successful. she'll point to the iranian nuclear deal as a success. you can tell why i can't wait to debate her." it's the first time christie has been in black hawk county since july.... a handful of of the g-o-p hopefuls will return to our neck of the woods next week... a new report suggests a sudden rise in the number of children diagnosed with autism... however -- it may not actaully be because more kids are suddently affected by the disorder....

report for us this morning... one in 45 kids in america has been diagnosed with an new report from the national center for health statistics... and is much different from previous estimates of one in 68. experts say -- this does researchers simply changed the way they surveyed parents -- had ever diagnosed their child with autism. "when you ask this, uh you're probably going to get a higher response rate of people saying 'yes -- someone once gave my child that label.' the important question is: does that label stick?" it's possible some doctors only suspected kids had autism. "what we may see is children regardless -- the numbers do suggest a growing broadened to include more children. experts also say some families may push for a diagnosis of autism to help get much-needed services for their children.

an important recall to pass along today... the campbell soup company is recalling 3 hundred 50-thousand cans of spaghetti-o's because of a potential choking hazard. small pieces of red plastic from the can lining have been found in a small number of cans. this is important: the recall is for cans with february 22, 20-17 stamped on the bottom. you can return it to the store where you bought it from... for an exchange or full refund.

the baby koala that stole the hearts of countless you-tube viewers is turning once again, this weekend. here she is, posing for cameras in her first photo shoot when she was just ten-months- old.... ..and on video last month, she charmed the world by appearing to give her cameraman a hug. a special goat is bringing some joy to residents at an elderly care facility. erica brecher has the story. the residents at the pines nursing home know his name. "petey the goat!" and they look forward denise whalen raised petey after his own mother failed to nurse and look after him. so, petey is more domesticated than other farm animals. denise started taking

him with her stores around town. "everyone was attracted to him and took pictures of him, and so pines rehab and healthcare center for about five months now, and as you can see, he loves animal crackers, so denise making stops along the way to say hello. they're very happy to see him because a lot of the people that are here were raised with farm animals i think the reaction is kind of unique because he's different, you know? there aren't too many goats that come into people's rooms nor or there too many nursing homes with the opportunity to offer its residents this one-of- a-kind relationship. very nice story there coming up
