stormtrack 7 weather team: welcome back and good evening, i'm meteorologist kyle kiel. we start you out with a few pictures. it's been a busy last twenty four to 30 hours with snow falling in eastern iowa. it's been our first snowfall of the season, and it happened to be a big one. there are many snowy scenes across the area. here is a look at some of the snowfall totals coming from the national weather service and our weather trackers. to the north, anywhere between 5 and 8 inches of snow. you can see where the heavier snow band set up, with many

getting nine to as high as 12 inches, that's a foot of snow. as we take you a little east, the dry air stayed a bit longer, so snow totals were cut back just a bit. as we go farther south, even less snow, with reports around 5 to 7 inches. fortunately, no snow is in the forecast tonight. however, i am keeping threat tracker in the yellow, just because it is going to be very cold, and there still could be some slick spots on the will be cold as well, with a partly cloudy sky, then we begin to warm up as we head into the day on monday. here's the current temperatures

across the area. we are in the teens. but winds have been out of the west and northwest between 10 and 20 miles per hour, so it feels much colder. here are the current wind chills the single digits, and these will continue to fall throughout the doppler radar shows dry conditions across eastern iowa. the snow is well off to our east weather network camera shows the quiet temperatures tonight will be or less tonight, with digits below zero. the sky will be mostly clear to start out, switch to the south west. highs will be in the temperatures will be above freezing. we are tracking our week, and could affect thanksgiving travel. sunday will be partly cloudy. we will still see sunshine, but there could be a few more clouds in our sky. no snow expected though. here's the storm track 7 forecast for tonight. it will be quite a cold night with low temperatures in the or just below, so that is something we will keep an eye on tonight. skies start to clear, then we will see an tonight. that will prevent our temperatures from dipping any colder than they already will. here's the storm track 7 forecast for tomorrow. we will still be cold with temperatures well below average in the twenties to lower thirties. the wind will be southwest from 10 to 15 miles per hour as high

to last year's city ban. storm track seven's shirley descorbeth visits a couple parks today where people are embracing the snow. shirley -- what's the mood like this weekend? the kids were having a great time. one kid tells me...it's like going down a waterslide. now last year, sledding was banned in all but two city parks. but fortunately -- kids and their parents are now able to take full advantage of the first snowfall of the season. several families out today at allison henderon park and bunker hill golf course in dubuque...enoying the snow by sledding. the cold weather couldn't stop them. you all over now. "i think it's great, you know. everyone just gotta keep safe when their doing it like again...especially after this snowfall."
