already seen our highs, but may we have breaking news this morning. more than a thousand people are without power in waterloo. at this point, we're not sure exactly what caused the power outage, but we will let youuknow as soon as we learn more information. decision 20-15 coverage now... today's run-off election in waterloo will determine the city's next leader. it's been one extra month of campaigning for these two candidates. both think this is an important time for the city and hope people get out and vote today. tim hurley says this election hinges on two things...vvter rnout and wherer those votes from the other candidate land. hurley says he is experienced...having spent three terms in that mayors seat. while quentin hart says he has experience...spepedin g eights years on the council, six of those years as mayor pro tem. both say it's important to get out, vote, and let your voices be heard. voters in cedar falls will take the polls toote for the next

the two candidates in this race are jim brown and incumbent mayor jon crews mayor crews is technically no longer in the race after dropping out, but he ii still on the ballot. there's also a third candidate -- a write in, whos been making a push for votes this past month. dave halterman ran on the regular ballot in the first election, but didn't make the rroff. e says when hehelearned crews write-in... "letting the people speak, thats the key, not this transition anoited mayor, letting the voters choose, that's what i'm all about as for jim brown, he says he's just trying to keep the message positive... pentagon may send more troops to syria to fight isis. a senior defense official told the paper the pentagon will consider deploying more special operations troops if the pilot project there shows sign of progress. last month, the pentagon announced 50 commandos will be sent to northern syria to advise forces fighting isis. this comes as a committee will hold a hearing in washington later today. the house armed services committee will speak on military and political strategies for defeating isis in iraq and syria. they'll discuss how the current strategy in fighting isis will impact bothhregions goingng forwawad. and that leads us decision 2016 coverage as we're just two months away from the iowa caucuses. and publican presidential candidate ted cruzzis making his rounds through eastern iowa. he touched on the hot topic of syrian refugees while speaking at a town hall in coralville yesterday. cruz says he's encouraged by the many governors saying no to syrian refugees...iicluding govenor branstad, who said he does not want syrian refugees coming to iowa... countries and we should not be bringing in individuals we don't know if they're terrorist." he also spoke on a number of topics including education and nuclear weapons. meanwhile, g-o-p contender jeb bush will be in eastern iowa this morning.. after stopping in goose lake last night. during his time on stage.. bush touched on some big political issues right now... including fighting isis and the syrian refugege crisis. bush will head to dubuque and waterloo before wrapping up his visit in newton. governor johnkasich was also in iowa campaigning. yesterday, he helel a town hall in ames.s. now, he was one of four g-o-p candidates that requested equal airtime over the holiday weekend. ads for kasich, mike huckabee, lindsey graham and jim gilmore could be ssen during everr commerical break during prime time hours here on kwwl. the four were able to receive equal airtime as donald trump, who was on "saturday night live" for over 12 minutes. the same ads wwe aired on 17

affiliate stations in iowa, new hampshire, and south carolina. george pataki also requested equal time, but turned down nbc's offer. meantime, democratic presidential candidate bernie sanders just had hernia surgery. a sanders campaign spokesperson says he doesn't believe the demands of the campaign trail caused the medical conditio. he's expected to rrsume his senate and campaign duties today. the state department has publicly released about 78-hundred pages of hillary clinton's emails. this is the largest release to date of the documents from the former secretary of state's personal email account. they say it's part of the court- ordered disclosure and goal to produce 66-percent oflinton's emails by novemberer30th. no details about any of the messages have been released. the former cop charged with killing a teenager in chicago is ououof jail, after posting bail. andrew spencer tells us protests have continued, as the mayor moves to create a new task force.

charge only came after a judge i'm andrew spencer, reporting the next hearing forrhe officer will be held on december 18th. the suspect in friday's deadly shooting inside a planned parenthood clinic made his first appearance in court. robert ear is charged with first-degree murder and will stay in jail with no bond. dear is accused of opening fire inside the planned parenthood clinic and holding a homrs-long standoff with police. threee people, including one police officer, were killed and nine others were injured. so far, investigators have not released a motive behind the shooting. police are investigating a fe to one of their own vehicles. fire crewssn fort dodge ound
