five fifth graders are suspended this morning. police believe they wanted to attack students on a field trip. new jersey police say the students were caught when teachers found aa written plan of the attack. investigators say the students built a device and brought it to school -- but police say the device was not explosive. british warppnes are carrying outtairstrikes in syria. this comes just hours after the parliament gave them the green light to bomb isis targets. four royal air force jets took off from a british air baae soon after the vote. two army pilots are killed in a helicopter crash in tennessee. the chopper went down ear fort campbell. it crashes during a routinee traaing exercise. the names of the pilots have not been released. fort campbell is home of the 101st airborne "screaming eagle", the army's only air assault division. australia will step up the search for a missing mayalysian airlines je in the indian ocean. so far, that search has turned

and when lawmakers go back to work -- they might have to make deep budget cuts. that's what house republican pat grassley says. he says the state is facing hundreds of millions of dollars in expected ew costs, so "tough decisions" will be needed. in washington, the house votes to give states more power to make decisions over how to use student test scores. lawmakers voted to rewrite no child left behind. the bill is considered a compromise -- and would end the federal effort to encourage academic standards liie common core. one lawmaker says washington has been micromanaging the nation's classrooms for too long. the ill would keep in place -- a key feature of no child left behind: annual reading g nd math testing of students in grades three through eight -- and once in high school. the senate will vote on it next week -- and the president is

a new 360 millionondollar children's hospital in iowa will have a new name when it opens next year. it will be called the stead family university of iowa children''hospital. maquoketa natives --- jerry and mary joy stead -- gave 25 million dollars for the project. they've now donated about 54 million to the university. "they are honored, they are money for brick and mortar, that's not what they do. but in this case, they understood the impact was so large to the people they love in iowa, that they decide to do it that way." the naming sn't come without controversy. many are asking about stead's connection to president bruce harreld, and if the role he played to bring harreld in as president, had any connection to the naming. a university spokesperson tells kwwl the request to name the facility after the stead family was made long before the search for a new president sarted.
