waterloo lice responded to the alen street and second street intersection around noon. allen street and second street intersection around noon. neighbors tell kwwl they heard gunshots and got on the floor. waterloo police say they are searcing for the person responsible. meanwhile -- five people are in custody following two unrelated robberies this morning. the first incident reported in the 300 block of linden -- and the second an hour later -- in the 16-hundred block of franklin street. neighbors say they're frustrated with crime in the area. like it keeps coming around. there's something down the line here. something here it's kind of scaryy waterloo p plice captain dave mohlis says they are not looking for any other people in connection to the early morning incidents.

other religious student groups have request space -as well. the hawkeye footballl team leaving for the big ten championship in indianapolis just a few hours ago... the team hopped on a plane in cedar pids at two thirty and headed off to indianapolis... local elementary schools are supporting their team by having hawkeye days... where students come to school in their favorite black and gold apparel. kwwl's hillary maglin visited an iowa city elementary school celebrating the hawks today. how excited were those kids hillary? people all across iowa are lookingg forward to this game... and elementary schoolers are no execption. students at ssveral elementary schools in iowa city have been dedicating fridays lately to to the hawkeyes record... by wearing black and gold to school. the team left for indianapolis earlier today andndstudents at helen leleme elelmentary school sported their best hawkeye gear.

this unseasonably warm weather is good news golfers... those at the gates park golf club pro shop in waterloo tell us they're playing it by ear and they anticipate a lot of business this weekend... businesses hoping for winter weather, however, aren't so lucky... kwwl's shirley descorbeth...visited an area ski resort earlier today...which isn't able to open yet because of the warmer temperatures. shirley? that's right...i went to sundown mountain resort here in dubuque. managers tell me they typically open the day after thanksgiving, but haven't been able to this year. empty ski slopes...and chair lifts in stand still at the sundown mountain resort in dubuque -- all because of the mild weather.
