their home. thanks for joining us tonight. welcome to the k-w-w-l news at five i'm macleod hageman. it's official! the iowa hawkeyes are going to the rose bowl. they are set to play stanford new years day. spirits are high for hawkeye fans -- after the heartbreaking loss for the team's undefeated run last night -- in the final minutes against michigan state. kwwl's mark woodley explains what this means for the hawkeyes. mark? you have to imagine the mood around the hawkeye football program and the fanbase has improved significantly in the past couple of hours -- but the fact is -- the iowa football night -- than they did for those first 12 wins this season -- and it makes sense as very few thought iowa would be in the ballgame -- instead the defense -- along with the big play from tevaun smith and c-j beathard -- had iowa in position to win this game -- and the committee felt that performance only warranted a one space drop in the rankings --

and making this selection possible -- while iowa last played in the rose bowl in 1991 -- their last win came in january of 1959 -- nearly 57 years ago -- but this has been a special team -- they'll be looking to make a bit more history on new year's day -- mac -- thanks mark as a reminder -- the hawkeyes will play standford at four in the afternoon on new years day. moments ago -- kwwl's kristen rogers talked with the hawkeye head coach to hear about this selection. kristin? he says the rose bowl is good medicine after last nights loss to michigan state. he said he is excited for the players to have this opportunity this year. the hawkeyes lost in the final seconds in indy to michigan state when l.j. scott reached for a touchdown... before the touchdown, iowa's defense had held michigan state to just three field goals. the kirk ferentz has said he is proud of this team, and he has certainly happy with the bowl selection this

according to stock - - he arrived home late that night to find kollasch snooping around his house. after a short exchange - he allegidly returned early that morning to set the fire. - - something still surprising to stock. evan stock "i didn't consider what could have happened at that point. i definitely have thought about it since then and it can happen in any town to anybody." stock says he thought his two guitars were initially lost in the thought his two guitars were initially lost in the fire -- along with more than 5- thousand dollars in band equipment. but police found those items in kollasch's home. coming up - - what mistake kollasch made that allowed cedar falls police to identify him. i am working on that story for 10.

the newsroom...jessica hartman kwwl news. following the fire -- stock says there's been an outpouring of support from the community -- and musicians from around the state. a man is in jail after leading dubuque police on a chase -- before crashing in someone's yard. it happened friday night at around 8- 30 on the fifty block of stetmore street in dubuque. kw-wl's shirley descorbeth speaks with the people who live where he crashed. she joins us live in dubuque with the details. shirley? well mac...the homeowners say they were schocked to see a car a mess left behind...spilled gas, rocks...and a broken fence at the home of eighty two year old headlights underneath the tree upside down and the headlights on the car never did go off." price and his wife, along with thier handicapped son were inside their home on the fifty block of stetmore street in dubuque...when police say

sky tuesday afternoon. here are the current visibility readings across the area. many of us are below 10 miles of visibility. storm track 7 live weather network cameras across eastern iowa are showing areas of reduced visibility, along with mainly cloudy skies. there could be patchy drizzle but overnight the area will remain dry. here's a look at the storm track seven live doppler radar. we are mainly dry across eastern iowa, with a few light rain showers falling apart and tracking to the east early this evening. a wider view of satellite and radar shows that most of the precipitation is off to our east. it wasn't very much rain today, only amounting to a few hundredths of an inch across much of the kwwl viewing area. we are just left with some low clouds, a few areas of drizzle, and the potential for fog during the overnight hours. temperatures, despite the cloud

have been held warmer than average once again. we've got temperatures in the thirties and forties right now. these temperatures won't be falling off too much as we go throughout the overnight thanks to the clouds and potential fog development during the night hours. future track through the night shows the mostly cloudy skies, but we will remain dry so you won't have to worry about any rain falling. as we go throughout he night, we will see the development of patchy dense fog across the area. be aware that there could be some patchy fog as you start your monday morning commute. once the fog burns off tomorrow, we will see decreasing clouds. tomorrow night will be a mainly clear night with clouds increasing once again on tuesday. and by tuesday night there could be a light
