than a month. now, his family is planning his walking through these halls at waterloo west high school. "i mean i'm not going to be missing posters were hanging up, now his teachers are having to explain to their students that they won't be seeing him anymore. "they say moe sed was a good student and it will be different not seeing him in school every day." "he sits next to me. he's not going to be sitting next to me anymore. that was a difficult thing to have tell me." moe sed's teachers, liz and katherin wagner helped organized community searches. but this week, the horrible news....sed's body was found in the river . "it's just heartbreaking. it's so sad. i can't even fathum a west high school student has died.": officials with the waterloo school district say the ethnic minorities of burma have different cultural norms regarding death. "they don't show a lot of emotion reguarding death but they're grieving on the inside. so where we might cry, you might not see the crying from

still mourning his loss, but maybe in a different way. waterloo police say the autopsy showed now signs of trauma, but they aren't exactly sure how he died. captain dave mohlis says those results could take up to six weeks to be completed. we've got you covered nikki newbrough kwwl news. moe sed's family released a statement. it says: "our family is not sure what to say as we grieve the loss of our son. we are thankful for the support of the police and sheriff's departments and the entire cedar valley community for the many ways everyone came together to support our family during this difficult time." it was an interesting day weather-wise here in eastern iowa.

officers were called to the perkins parking lot on university avenue this morning after two -- for a man with apparent stab wounds. after reviewing the scene -- police discovered the stabbing happened in a nearby apartment complex parking lot. kwwl's macleod hageman talks with the property manager reports the latest. mac? the university avenue studios property manager says she recognized the people involved in the early morning stabbing -- and says they were not tenants of the complex. university avenue studios -- property manager denice bennett says tenants did not see the incident take place... "we've got someone who lives didn't hear or see anything, but it was 2:00 a.m." "after reviewing security video, the property manager says the two people responsible, walked out of this door and started a drove away, and the victim drove to a nearby restaurant." "there was a scuffle out there. according to witnesses and video -- the victim drove to perkins -- looking for help. after he was taken to the hospital -- police reviewed surveillance video -- and were able to the possbile people

"the two individuals i was able to identify do not live on our property. they were visiting people here." at this hour -- waterloo police say thtey made contact with the people involved. but no arrests have been made. waterlooo police captain dave mohlis says they're waiting to hear more information from the victim. we've got you covered -- according to the property manager --she recognized the people inovloved from surveillance video. due to the incident -- they were added to the complex's no- trespass list. police in ames are considering adding cameras along a street that experiences persistent issues with assaults and other crimes. the street is in the campustown

state university campus. police say their chances of solving cases, would increase significantly if there was video evidence. authorities say the cameras would not be monitored 24 hours a day, but video footage would be looked at if a crime is reported. a retired national parks service superintendent is charged with stealing remains. national monument superintendent thomas munson allegedly stole a kept them in his home in prairie du chien. the artifacts included fragments of jaws and leg bones that are one thousand to two thousand-years-old. munson is expected to be arraigned in federal court in cedar rapids next week. the pilot of a single-engine plane was killed when his aircraft crashed in the median of interstate 29 north of council bluffs thursday. before the crash, the pilot radioed to the airfield saying he was having problems with his plane. the plane went down near mile marker 58 east of the airfield and north of downtown council bluffs.

approached the scene and checked on the pilot but he was unresponsive. a fire breaks out on "l" street in cedar rapids early this morning. and this isn't the first time firefighters have been called to that home. kwwl's hillary maglin has been digging on this story all day and has uncovered new informaton tonight.. hillary? after 3 fires in this cedar rapids home since flames rip through this home for the third time in just the past 2 from multiple fires. the garage roof collapsed.. cars yard. police... neighors... and even the homeowners believe all 3 devsatating fires were set on purpose. the house itself is no stranger to police and fire fighters either - police say they're regularly called out to the house for various problems. homeowner virginia chavez says despite the reputation her house has gotten in the neighborhood... it's still her dream home. (sot. cg: virginia chavez/homeowner) "i wanted to live here the rest of my life, before someone started having fun with it." chavez knows that neighbors are tired of it all. and chavez herself hasn't

several opportunities to fix up the house but you can see where that is. she says she claimes she was unable to ever raise enough money for repairs. senator marco rubio is back campaigning in iowa.. where he promised u.s. forces would never be involved in a "fair fight." as rubio told a veterans town hall meeting in des moines.. he'd make sure american troops always have superior resources and strategy in any conflict. the republican presidential candidate also promised extensive reform of the veterans administration. and speaking of cruz...a prominent iowa evangelical leader endorsed cruz this morning. bob vander plaats announced his endorsement in des moines, calling cruz a "serious leader for serious times." vander plaats stresses it is a personal endorsement, not one on behalf of the family leader, the group he leads. the group's board has decided not to leader president and ceo) "people are moving on and they're looking and saying well believe that the extraordinary

extraordinary times is u.s. senator ted cruz." vander plaats also called cruz the one candidate that can get the u-s out of what he called "the mess that we're currently in." the endorsement comes as cruz sees his support growing in iowa. a recent c-n-n o- r-c poll shows 20 percent of likely iowa g-o-p the university of iowa will be changing the name of their student information system. the iowa student information system is nicknamed isis but with the terrorist group in the news -- some wanted the university to go with a different name. the university decided they will change the name in the spring of 2016. no word yet on what the new name will be. going to be forced to get tickets through third parties because of demand. as of today, 54 thousand one hundred tickets have been

here is additional forecast information from the kwwl stormtrack 7 weather team: welcome back i'm meteorologist kyle kiel in for mark schnackenberg. after sun, clouds and a little bit of light rain, we will have a mostly clear night for the first part of the overnight, and then we will have a few high clouds track in. tomorrow we will have periods of sun and clouds. we will have another warm day with temperatures back in the 50s. a couple light rain shower are possible late tomorrow afternoon and evening. but the better chance for rain is on saturday and sunday. more on that here in just a few minutes. we had a wind advisory that expired here at 5 o'clock. now, we are still dealing with gusty winds, especially in our northern counties where we still have high wind speeds and wind gusts. but notice to our west, the wind is much lighter so we are anticipating the wind speed to die down just a bit. storm track seven live doppler radar shows dry conditions here across eastern iowa. the light rain that tracked through is now well off to the east in parts of wisconsin. satellite and radar across the midwest. we have low

rain a little bit earlier today in parts of wisconsin and into northern michigan. that's taking the clouds with it. so we will have a period of clear skies before high clouds track in from the west. all eyes are on our next storm system over the weekend. right now we have an unorganized area of low pressure to our west. this will continue to develop in the southern plains and then bring rain our way for the weekend. we'll track that out in just a couple moments. closer back home, the storm track 7 live weather networks cameras across eastern iowa show mainly dry conditions after the light rain tracked through our northern counties. we will see the sky clear in our eastern counties. temperatures are still well above average for this time of year, with temperatures in the 30s and 40s right now. future track shows clear skies tonight, with clouds increasing during the over night hours. these will be high clouds. as we go into tomorrow morning, we will start off with partly cloudy skies, but will get some periods of sunshine through the day. we will notice an increase in clouds from the south during the

tracks back into the area. that could produce a few stray showers during the late afternoon, with possible drizzle during the overnight friday. most of saturday morning will be dry across the area, however by the afternoon clouds thicken up, and there will be an increased chance for rain to track into the area by saturday afternoon. the best chance of rain will be saturday night into sunday. as far as the rain amounts, a good one to two inches of rain is possible out of this next storm on your home, it's a product stores tell us they can't keep on the shelves... but these laser- like christmas lights have recently caused problems for pilots across the country. shining a laser at a plane on purpose, is a federal offense but these lasers are likely unintentional, by people simply wanting to light up

kwwl's kristin rogers dug into this today, kristin what can you i am standing at a home right now where a laser light display is going on and take a look at this, it's very beautiful, lights up the whole house and puts smiles on faces... you would never think there would be a risk involved. "it's the most wonderful time..." a wonderful time of year, where christmas "i hope everybody has a merry christmas, and just have peace." but there's a new light in town... and you don't have to hang it up... harmless if pointed at your house like this one, but they reported seeing a laser, it was traced back to a christmas light display... there was also a similar incident in california...the air traffic manager at the cedar rapids airport tells me lasers can be blinding for pilots... jason mullet says his laser light projector is a new addition to his christmas display this year (cg: jason mullet/ has laser light display) "it's an inexpensive way to make

the u-n-i panthers are getting ready to face the north dakota state bison in the quarterfinals of the f-c-s playoffs. the panthers fell to the bison earlier this year, 31-28. kickoff for this big quarterfinal game is set for 11 saturday morning. meanwhile, u-n-i's deiondre hall, already named the defensive player of the year, picked up another honor today. he was named to the f-c-s first team all-america. hall led the league with six interceptions, and also ranks third in interceptions among all f-c-s active players. talking about no 2 ranked hawkeyes
