system... is commonly referred to by its acronym -- isis. the university recently received complaints about the name because of it's similiarity to the radical islamic terrorist group. while some students aren't offended by the name... they understand why the school is making the change. (heidi aude/student) "i mean, i not standing with isis, the terrorist organization. but i think, you know, we don't wanna seem affiliated with it, if that's the case." the university says they haven't come up with a new name for the program yet -- but will be name for the program yet -- but will be asking for input from students. they hope to have it officially changed by spring. police find the bike of a waterloo teen -- moe sed -- whose body was found earlier this week in the cedar river. moe sed was last seen with his bike on october 22nd... officers were looking for it since finding his body on sunday.

turned in by someone who found it in downtown waterloo. but they're not sure how long this person had the bike. meanwhile -- information about funeral arrangements and a memorial fund set up to help cover those costs can be found on our website, kwwl dot com. a 20-year-old is convicted of murdering a 97- year-old man and injuring his wife. a polk county judge finding ngor makuey guilty of first degree murder in the 2014 death of rupert anderson. makuey broke into anderson's home to rob him and his 94-year-old wife, harriet -- attacking them with a grilling spatula. his sentencing date is set for january fourth. police arrest a man accused of stabbing someone in a parking lot. waterloo police say 34-year-old jeron garrison stabbed the victim multiple times outside the university avenue studios

witnesses say the victim tried walking to the nearby perkins for help. the victim's name has not been released but they are believed to be in stable condition. garrison is charged with wilful serious injury -- a felony charge. family members of laquan mcdonald speaking publicly for the first time since the video of the police shooting was released. the 17-year-old was shot by a chicago officer 16 times last year. the video's release last month sparking a number of riots in the area. laquan's great uncle -- pastor marvin hunt -- speaking today on the impact this situation is having on the family. marvin hunt, great uncle "tina's not here today because she's hurting and traumatized by the constant reminder of the senseless death of her son. that's how she feels." hunt also calling for president obama to create a federal summit in the neighborhood where the

took place to talk about police violence and brutality. meanwhile -- the officer - jason van dyke is charged with murder in the shooting. decision 2016 coverage -- dr. ben carson campaigning in iowa today -- keeping his stead approach despite some delcining number in recent polls. the republican candidate telling reporters he will continue to talk about the issues he cares about -- refusing to go into panic mode. he also talked about working with moderate american muslims to protect national security. dr. ben carson / (r) presidential candidate moderate muslim community and helping them to understand that you know everybody is welcome in this country as long principles. we're not particularly interested in starting another type of culture in this country."

(applause) you can see the man there getting the boot from the rally. trump speaking on a number of topics --including fellow candidate ted cruz -- saying cruz agrees with everything he says. democratic presidential candidate hillary clinton will be campaigning in iowa for the fourth time in as many weeks. this was her speaking in waterloo on wednesday. the former secretary of state will also be holding two town halls in iowa city and mason city on wednesday, december 16. both events are open to the

an epic comeback win last night for the cyclones over the hawkeyes. but what a lot of people are focusing on today is what happened after -- when two people were injured during the court storm. it was a legendary cy- hawk game for the ages..."when banging on bleachers, it was a good time." and when the final buzzer sounded for a cyclone victory...((nats)) many fans knew exactly what to do... for your complete weather information. here is additional forecast information from the kwwl stormtrack 7 weather team: welcome back and happy friday, and meteorologist kyle kiel in for mark schnackenberg. it was a cloudy day across eastern iowa, and that will continue to be the story into tonight. later tonight, we could have a few patchy areas of drizzle and some fog, but overall we just stay overcast. that will be the case into tomorrow morning as well. but by the afternoon we will start to see rain showers spread into the area, becoming more widespread saturday night into sunday. that's where we will see our best chance for a few thunderstorms as well. no severe weather is expected. right now the storm track 7 live weather network shows overcast skies across eastern iowa, after seeing just a few peeks of sunshine throughout the day. we will remain mainly overcast through the overnight hours. storm track 7 live doppler radar has nothing showing up in eastern iowa, but we take a wider view of the satellite and radar, you will notice we have widespread clouds across the center part

moisture making its way into the midwest. this area of low pressure will track along the warm front, and feed off the moisture, giving us a moderate to heavy rain event across the area. yes, we are talking rain in the middle of december. temperatures have been well above average, by 10 to 15 degrees today. we are currently sitting in the 40s, and many of us won't get any cooler than the 40s throughout the overnight hours, thanks to the warm front and the cloud cover. let's time everything out with futuretrack. tonight, we will have a mainly cloudy sky. a warm front will nudge its way into the area, bringing higher moisture values which means areas of drizzle and fog could affect us later tonight into tomorrow morning. tomorrow, most of us stay dry throughout the first half of the day, but by late afternoon, we will see the development of showers. the rain becomes more widespread overnight saturday and even a few thunderstorms. no severe weather is expected. the rain will continue into sunday as the low tracks through the area. there

manslaughter trial of freddie gray. gray injured his spine while in police custody in april. officer porter says he told the van driver gray needed medical attention and needed to go to the hospital. instead he was driven the the police station and showed up with a broken neck. prosecutors say porter is responsible for gray's death for not buckling him into his seatbelt. closing arguments are set for monday. a burger king customer is arrested after allegedly

restaurant after receiving the wrong order. police say the 23-year-old called into the florida restaurant screaming and cursing -- saying she was going to get a gun and shoot people with it. they later found marijuana and a box cutter on her -- and took her into custody. employees say the order she was upset about only totaled to three dollars and 18 cents. a scene out of the wild wild west after a cow gets loose on the highway. this 18-wheeler overturned on the mississippi roadway while carrying 94 cows. one of them getting loose and running through the middle of the street -- nearly getting hit by traffic, but some horse riding cowboys came to the rescue -- lassoing the cow into their grasp. the driver of the truck was taken the hopsital in the crash -- but the injuries are not believed to be serious. someone is walking around with an extra few- hundred-thousand dollars after selling a very rare

panthers big quarterfinal matchup with the north dakota state bison. this is a rematch of the october matchup--north dakota state edged out the panthers 31-28. both teams rely heavily on their run game. quarterback aaron bailey set the u-n-i rushing record in a season for a qb last week, and has more than 13 hundred yards this year. tyvis smith also has more than a thousand yards this year--it marks the first time in school history the team has had two thousand yard rushers. the bison also have been potent on the ground this year--they're averaging 300 yards on the ground over the past six games. kick off is tomorrow morning at 11 on espn. meanwhile, it's the women's turn

in the second--ally disterhoff drives in for the lay-up--2 of her 26 points, pushes iowa's lead to 9. they would go up by ten, but iowa state looking for more hilton magic--shawna johnson hits the layup to tie it up at 55. then, good passing finds jayda buckley for the three pointer, iowa state takes the lead. disterhoff with the chance to tie it with seven seconds left--misses the free throw. johnson would hit two to push the cyclone lead to three-- then disterhoff with a last ditch effort to tie the game--misses everything, 19th ranked hawkeyes fall to iowa state, 69-66. black hawks taking the ice tonight against the fargo force, and this one was a major offensive outing for waterloo. in the fifth minute,luhn grabs the rebound and fires it into the net to give waterloo an early 1-0 lead. fargo didn't waste much time on the

takes advantage of a power play opportunity; knots the game at 1-1. later in the first, a brawl breaks out on the ice, and waterloo's collin saccoman was ejected for his role in the skirmish. no matter though, black hawks on the ensuing power play, and ronnie heim centers the puck to nick lead. and in the 18th minute, it's heim on the breakaway; he can't find the net, but swaney again grabs the rebound and puts it in for his second goal of the night and his 13th first period, and they go on to win by a final of 4 to 3 -- scoring in the last 10 seconds... and the chicago cubs have landed one of the top free agents of this offseason. jason heyward and the cubs agreed to an eight-year, 184 million dollar deal. heyward hit 293 last year, with 13 homers and 60 rbi's. he'll most likely take over center field duties, and hit towards the top of the lineup.
