he was getting out of his police car. myers is now beieig held at the black hawk county jail. the assault happened at the college square manor on boulder drive -- behind the college square hyvee. kwwl's jessica hartman investigates the incident. she joins us live in the newsroom with the details. of evets started with myers eating his way through the college squaree hyvee in cedar falls. when hyvee managers approached myers -- he became aggressive and attacked two employees. according to police -- he then left to his nearby apartment. while police were searching the building for myers -- he attempted to break into a locked cop car. that's when officer nick puls spotted myers. "the assault lasted about 10 seconds. he took officer puls to the ground and was striking him in the head when the other officer tased him and got him off." myers is a resident at the complex .

person who keeps to himself. the seriousness of officer puls' injuries are unkown this time. we''ve got you covered live in the newsroom...jessica hartman kwwl news. thanks jessica. acccording to police -- myers is charged wwth robbery and assault. authorities say he has a long police record. - a 20-year-old man is convicted of murdering a 97- year-old man and injuring his wife. a polk county judge says this man is guilty of first degree murder -- in the 20-14 death of rupert anderson. court records indicate he broke into anderson's home to rob him and his 94-year-old wife. when they confronted him -- he attacked them with a grilling spatula. his next court date is set for january fourth. the u-s marshals and kansas authorities are trying ttfind a man wanted -- in connection to a murder. 20-year-old bryan bridges is

according to authorities -- bridges broke into a kansas home last year -- and shot the home owner. authorities say bridges has connections to people in mexico, colorado and even iowa. 20-thousand dollars is being offererd for information leading to his arrest. now to decision 20-16 coverage -- bernie sanders makes a few stops in eastern iowa this weekend. senator sanders currently trails democratic frontrunner hillary clinton in most national and iowa polls -- as we approach the big caucus on february first. however -- sanders does lead hillary clinton in new hampshire.$& now here's a look at his scheeule this weekend. he stopped in dubuque -- tonight in waterloo -- then tomorrow -- he will stop again in waterloo and mount vernon. doctor ben carson also campaigning in iowa -- keeping hisissteady approach despite some delcining numbers in recent polls. the republican candidate tells reporters he will continue to talk about the issues he cares about -- refusing to go into panic mode. also talked about working with

national security. fellow candidate donald trump was in iowa -- holding a rally in des moines. and he had to put up with at least one heckler. (applause) you can see the man there getting the boot from the rally. nald trump spoke on a number of topics -- including fellow candidate ted cruz -- saying cruz agrees with everything he says. and today -- ted cruz jumps ahead of trump in the latest des moines register - bloomberg iowa poll -- at 31 percent -- with trump at 21 percent. back to the democratic side of the race -- hillary clinton will be campaigning here in iowa once again. we caught up with her on wednesday -- as you see here. the former secretary of state ll hold two town hall meetings in iowa city and mason city on wednesday. all of her events are open to the public.

it's the warm front is sitting early this evening. no rain right now on storm track 7 live doppler radar. our storm system is still to the south west, with a front overhead in our area. here's look at future track. early this evening we will see fog, drizzle and areas of light rain. after we get to midnight, we wilil see more rain overspread the area as moisture increases. the rain will continue into tomorrow morning and afternoon with a few thunderstorms possible. as we go throughout the afternoon hours on sunday, the area. the best chance for storms should remain east of the area. but areas of moderate to heavy rainfall.

we go o hroughout sunday night, the rain will continue, but more on a scattered basis as the area of low pressure, or center of the storm, begins to track into eastern iowa. throughout the day on monday we will see off and on rain showers. to our northwest, cold air will begin to wrap around the storm system, and that's where there could be some snow. here in eastern iowa, the temperatures will remain w wll above the freezing mark, so we will stay all rain. here are a look at the forfcast computer models for rain fall. these aren't gging to be exact amounts, however, widespread areas of one to dwo and a half inches are possible, with localized a aeas receiving up to three inches. this

fcs quarterfinal this morning in fargo the panthers looking for some revenge after they fell to the bison in farko earlier this season. uni witt some momentum early in the game after ndsu fumbles the ball, it's recovered by jared farley for the panthers the pather possesesion would lead to a field goal from michael schmadake giving uni a 10-7 lead in the second quarter. the bison make a statement to start off the third quarter cceck out brbrce anderson dodging a couple tackles and managing to stay on his feet as he returns the ball all the way for a touchdown, ndsu with such a strong special teams unit, takes a 14-10 lead. uni would go 3 and out on their next possession, and it's quickly bison ball again eventually 1st and goal from theour, here's king frazier wiwih the t.d. the panther's chance to gain some ground in the fourth quarter aaron bailey's pass is broken up by c.j. smith for the bison
