t-h media newsroom in dubuque. it was a group of a few more than 40 today that gathered in a park here in downtown dubuque. many armed with signs, candles and flashlights, all in remembrance of the victims of that horrible tragedy three years ago. nats car honking honk for peace--a simple request from one woman in dubuque during a rally to remember the victims of the sandy hook shooting. the signs all different, but the message of the group, the same: (carolyn farrell, sisters of charity of the blessed virgin mary)"so what we're doing here tonight is just try to raise conciousness so we can end violence in general, and in particular, gun violence." many of those gathered here come with flashlights and

gun violence. one of the people out there told we've got you covered live from the t-h media newsroom in dubuque, brad hanson, kwwl news. and some families who lost loved ones to gun violence are taking their message to the n-r-a. they held a protest outside the group's headquarters in fairfax, virginia today. a new billboard was unveiled to promote massachusetts gun laws. the 90-foot long banner hung on a parking garage in downtown boston. the city's mayor and other local officials joined the group "stop handgun violence" to unveil the sign and promote the hashtag "gun laws work." the group previously posted a digital billboard near fenway park, which tallied the lives lost to gun violence. supporters of the campaign say it shows that the state's gun laws are effective, while opponents say it's a waste of money. ames police are looking for a driver who hit and killed an 18-year old isu student this morning. an iowa state university police

urbana lying in the street near the intersection of lincoln way and ash avenue around seven this morning. she was taken to the hospital where she later died. police are asking for help to find the person who killed her. the fire department was called after a basement caught on fire. our coverage partners at the t-h media say the fire took place in the 1100 block of locust street in dubuque this morning. the people who lived there already got out of the building by the time there were no injuries reported. the family of moe sed would like to invite the community to join them in celebrating his life. the waterloo west high school student went missing october 22nd. his body was later pulled from the cedar river near gilbertville. police still don't know how he died. a visitation will be held on his birthday, december 20th at the waterloo first united methodist church from 1-4 p.m. moe will be laid to rest on monday, december 21. that will take place at the first baptist church of waterloo. if you would like to help his family pay for funeral costs, donate at

the "moe sed benefit." a small round of layoffs are coming to employees at john deere... deere and company are indefinitely laying off 45 employees at the john deere foundry in waterloo... the layoffs take effect january 18th. those at deere say the layoffs come with a projected decrease in sales in 2016. today -- thousands of hawkeyes fans will find out if they're getting tickets to the rose bowl. the university will now hand out 23-thousand tickets -- but more than 50-thousand people requested a ticket. this means fans will have to spend more to go through the secondary market -- like stubhub. right now stubhub has tickets -- beginning at 5- hundred dollars... iowa takes on stanford in the

a busiest mailing day of the year. as people are sending off packages and cards to loved ones for the holidays, some post offices even increase their staff to prepare for this busy time. this is the marion post office. people. we are told today is the busiest day because it's one of the last days to send with standard shipping prices and have your packages delivered in time for the holidays.... online shopping is another factor time of year... mail carriers from this post office are delivering seven days a week. they have also increased staff and brought in extra product to make sure they don't run out. we are told tomorrow is the last day to send with standard shipping and have your packages arrive in time for christmas. even the iowa d- o-t isn't strong enought to resist star wars fever. today they posted five different messages on electronic billboards across the state... including: "the force is strong with you ... put down the phone" flashing intermittently with traffic fatality statistics for the state. one of the best lines... "road rage? let the wookie win." ames is named the country's best college town...iowa city, coming in at number three.

hey, what could go wrong? it's you and me all the way, future. let's get going. the future after seeing their season come to an end with a loss this weekend in the fcs playoffs -- next year will start a new era at quarterback following the graduation of both aaron bailey and sawyer kollmorgen -- now as for coach mark farley -- he'll soon get to work on next season -- but this afternoon -- he took the time to reflect on a team that reached the playoffs for the second straight season -- despite the fact they may have played the most we played nine top 25 teams throughout that season and many portland state, the big sky champions, i'm very pleased with how they did it.
