for the first time tonight we are seeing dash cam video from an officer-involved shooting in cedar rapids. good evening everyone, i'm ron steele. and i'm amanda goodman. thanks for joining us. this incident happening back in march.. 27-year-old kyle orth drove a bmw towards officers when he was shot multiple times. the dash cam video shows what went down that night kwwls olivia mancino has been looking into this video...she joins us now live we were at the scene and saw the b-m-w after the fact... riddled with bullets. tonight this dash camera video shows exactly what happened early that spring morning "shots fired, shots fired, shots fired! show me your hands, show year-old kyle orth police say led to this scene at center point road and daniels street north east. police say orth ran several red lights and went down

street prior to the pinnacle of the event. here you can see orth back up his car into a pole and repeatedly to stop. kwwl was on the scene in march after all of this went down. you can see multiple bullet holes in orth's orange me, dont shoot me!" back on the scene you can hear officers struggle with orth, as he pleads with them not to shoot him. officers eventually lead orth back into the dash camera's view, putting him on the ground and handcuffing him. the struggle is finally over, and after a long ordeal... orth is finally in custody. the department of criminal investigations looked into this case -- finding the officers acted appropriately-- and used appropriate force. weve got you covered

election today--something they've done every presidential election since 1968. kwwl's brad hanson was there today and joins us live now from the t-h media newsroom in dubuque. and brad, this is a big deal for the students there. 425 students at table mound elementary school have been working for months to put on a mock election very similar to the republican national convention. it's safe to say, though, that these kids were a little more animated than supporters you might see at the convention next year. nats kids cheering the passion was easy to find inside table mound elementary school, as students get ready to make the state, dressing up to reflect their districts. from the tropical hawaain delegation, to the cheeseheads of wisconsin, these future politicians were all in during this mock election. possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. a man is in the hospital following a hunting accident. the accident happened in the crumbacher wildlife area in independence. according to the buchanan county sheriff's department a 28- year-old male was handling a shotgun when it fired, striking the man in the foot. the male was transported by ambulance to a waterloo hospital for treatment. the male's name is not being released at this time pending the investigation. a van ends up on its top after a rollover accident. the accident happened in dubuque just south of the intersection at 29th and elm street. the white van hit a parked truck and flipped over on its top. the driver and passenger didn't appear to have any injuries. the driver was taken to the hospital for precaution. coming up on kwwl...protesting erupts in baltimore after a judges ruling in the freddy gray trial. and - the mayor of chicago abruptly leaves a school event after students start chanting 16 shots at him. decision over officer william porter's responsibility in the death of freddie gray. porter was one of six officers charged after gray died in police custody. polo sandoval has the latest from baltimore. (nats) police officers stood side by side in long lines -- as street. but the family of freddie gray and the city of baltimore urge calm. (baltimore mayor/stephanie rawlings-blake) "if some choose to protest they must peacefully demonstrate. that is their right. but i also want to be very, very clear about any potential disturbances in our city. we are prepared to respond". gray died after being transported in a police van.

first officer out of six tried. prosecutors argued porter ignored gray's pleas for help. they also said porter did not buckle gray properly into a seat belt and did not follow police policy. porter's protocol was to not use seat belts. the jury considered the charges against porter -- involuntary manslaughter, second- degree assault, misconduct in office and reckless endangerment. but could not reach a decision. now gray's family will wait for a new trial as protesters in the city of baltimore demand justice. chicago mayor abruptly left a school event following an unexpected reception today the mayor was visiting the urban prep charter academy to make an announcement about a program designed to mentor and inspire young men of color. when students were asked to recite the school creed some started chanting "16 shots" instead. the mayor quickly left after the assembly. the navy will award purple hearts to six service members killed or wounded during an attack in chattanooga tennessee earlier this year. four marines and a sailor were killed when a gunman opened fire at a military recruiting station and a u-s naval facility seven miles away. one marine recruiter survived the shooting. the fbi confirms the july 16th attack was motivated by a foreign terrorist group. that determination allows the military to move forward with the awards. coming up next... we'll hear from the uni panthers as they prepare for a cyclone team very

that first one i'm obviously referring to was at the time number one north carolina -- where uni used a second half rally to get by the tarheels -- a team with one of the best transition games in the coutnry -- much like the cyclone team the panthers are about to face -- carolina does, because they've gives them 4 guys. when they move him over to center, that gives them 5 guys that can handle the ball in transition. that game it certainly prepared us that we need to get back in transition and build our wall of defense, then rebound. they do a really good job of rebounding inside as well offensively and we need to do a good job of finding our guys. as we mentioned yesterday -- iowa state's naz long will miss that game and is calling this season quits due to pain related to hip surgery in the spring -- long will seek a medical redshirt -- and said today that having another chance at a fully healthy senior
